Some how my datastorm stowed itself off the track. It's slightly skewed, azimuth off center, and slight ly raised.

I can use motor control to move it close to its
null position but then attempting to search jumps it
back to bad position.

Can I use motor control to stow the system completely and somehow reset the controller? When
back to normal position, it shows negative elevation, azimuth, and skew.

I have D2 and 4020.

Thanks

Have you tried doing a dish calibration? I would get the dish back on track by using the manual buttons then do a dish cal.

Well, that didn't work either, I moved everything
back to stowed position then ran disk calibration.

DS moved skew first, hit the rails a couple of times
and stopped. Now the D2 is hung and I'll have to
power cycle to reset.

Elevation shows -2.968899, azimuth 0, skew is 26.73861.

Thanks.

The first thing to check is to see if one of the wires that comes into the back of the D-2 is broken. There is a green plug with 9 multi-colored wires. Gently pull on each wire and ensure a good connection. If that fails I would check the roof for a loose connection on the upper control board. Remove and replace the connections (slide up and down on pins as well). Be sure you do not replace the plugs incorrectly as the will appear to fit even when placed wrong.
If neither of these is a problem you most likely have a bad upper control board and need to contact MotoSAT tech. support, 801-972-8869, or a local dealer if there is one nearby.

Thanks, I'm waiting a call from Datastorm this PM
but will check those connections in the meantime.

I've checked all the connections (several times) and
replaced upper and lower control boards with no
improvement.

Finally looks like elevation motor/sensor were bad
causing control to skip over elevation movement and
do skew/azimuth no matter where the elevation is.

So, anyone know of a dealer in Arlington, TX or
San Antonio, TX where I can get this fixed?

Thanks all.

Just an update to let everyone know the resolution.

The elevation motor resistance read too low, 5 ohms
instead of 8-15, so I asked for a replacement. Used
external battery to lower the dish and motor burned
out completely.

It shipped overnight with Saturday delivery as
requested but appeared to be wrong motor so I did
not install it for a couple of days.

After installing the motor, control of all dish
functions was gained but still couldn't calibrate.

So, checked all measurements, checked all connections, looked for shorts, etc. No joy.

Finally installed original UCB and new CB, then
calibration, search, stow worked correctly.

BTW, the new motor also reads 5 ohms but works.

This has been a very strange experience.

Glad that it your dish is working again. Motors don't seem to be a problem very often but when one goes bad it can certainly mess up your whole day.

You may want to just get it checked by an installer. I recommend Roger Odom in Arlington
