My internet bird is IA8 (89W)and I am currently using a BOW for DTV on bird 101 and all is well. I am moving into a stick house and will need to get an account for use there. Local channels are spot beamed on 119. Is there a BOW configuration that will allow me to get the LNB's that will pick up both 101 and 119 on the .74 dish on the stick house? I prefer not to go to 2 separate dishes.

Thanks

Bob Price

89 to 119 is too big a spread for any available BOW. There have been some cases where people have attached a BOW to a BOW and extended it - you have to do a lot of playing around to get it to work, if at all.

Bob,

It is possible to get 119 using a custom BOW arm. However, with the difficulty in getting the Universal BOWs and then make the modifications it would be a whole lot easier and cheaper to just pick up a TV dish and install it on the stick house.

The short answer is NO, there is not.

counting from your "ON Axis" satellite (89 in this case) the lipstick LNB is +2 degrees, (thus 91)

The Bows (A and B) are +/- six to 20

So you can get up to 109 from where you are at, perhaps 110 if you go just beyond the calibrated area on the bow slide. but 119 is way beyond it's range.

Suggestion, a dish-300 antenna and a DISQ switch

John,
As you can see by the 2 posts above yours, the answer is YES. It can be done and has been done but may not be the best decision for a home user who could add a second dish cheaper and just as easily.

Thanks for all the responses.

For aesthetic reasons I wanted to stay away from the second dish but that sounds like the best alternative to pursue.

Thanks again.

Larry:
Is that 2 bow kits joined together? I was originally on SatMex5 where a bow worked great with Dish Network but when I moved to IA8, I lost that capability to reach 119. Would that require a lot of tweaking as we move across the US?

That is two Bow kits joined together. I don't know how much tweaking it takes when moving around. I found that picture by doing a search here on Datastorm General forum.

You could do a search and find the person that posted it. And send them a e-mail to ask how it has worked out for them.

I am not sure but think it was posted around April this year.

The universal bow may be hard to find one now. I know GC quit selling them.

I believe that Don Marr posted the picture and he says that his customer(s) has had success with the setup. It would take some tweaking as you move around the US and I am not sure that anyone can tell you if it would work everywhere.
