Last year at Kerrville there were several services available to attendees. ie. rig weighing, mobile oil change, rig wash etc. Are any of the above being offered this year in Tucson? Matt
I just phoned Beaudry and asked the attendant. She said that that sort of information is provided in the welcome package from the Resort. I know that we had some mechanicla work done when we were there last fall after Kerrville and I had got the contact from the office.
Just think, only just over 61 days left to go!

Thanks Al, I think it's 58 days for us since we are on the metric calendar. Are you guys planning on taking the shortcut through Illinois again this trip? Matt

Not this time. We are, however, going to stop in Blythe for a few days. We are leaving here on the 9th and heading down. We are scheduled into Tucson for the 21st.

We were there in Feb 07 and the restaurant was open and serving food. I was concerned with the security as there was no guard at the west gate after hours and the gate was left open for anyone to inter. It is in a less desirable area of town. But we stay at parks all over the US that don't have any security and the gates are open all night. If Beaudry is having intruder problems they should address it and run security at night. We will see in Oct. if things are any better. If not may be as a large group we can persuade them to add security while we are there.
The thing I don't like about Beaudry is all the "Buzzards" driving around in there carts wanting to sell you a new rig.

I was at Beaudry in both December and again in March and I did not feel any less secure than at most RV Parks. The restaurant was open both times although I heard that they were going to be closing the restaurant for a period of several months. In both December and March, the north entrance was open but the west entrance gate was closed and secured by about 11 pm.
I find that things are more likely to 'walk off' in RV Parks in larger cities than in more rural environs. I am always a little more careful about leaving anything sitting out overnight in a larger city after having a small toolbox walk away in Dallas.
We will contact Beaudry regarding security but my wife and I certainly felt no less secure at Beaudry than at most parks in major cities.

The restaurant at Beaudry closes for the summer, probably because there isn't enough business to justify keeping it open. We were there in June for a service appointment and the park was very sparsely populated (108 degree temperatures probably had something to do with it).
I assume that the "welcome package from the resort" will be oriented toward Beaudry's service department -- they are likely to be busy and costly. (For those who haven't been there before, the campground is part of a very large sales and service dealership.) Are there going to be outside vendors there other than MotoSat and other satellite-oriented vendors? E.g. we're looking to have our rig weighed soon and were curious as to whether the Listers (RVSEF) might be there.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

The restaurant at Beaudry IS closed for good according to those on site. They are trying to find a location to re-open the restaurant in town but have no plans to re-open a restaurant there. The little convenience store has been removed and there are now vending machines in that location. The RVSEF (coach weighing) group did want to come to the rally and I gave them the necessary contact information. However, RVSEF corporate is cutting back on their rally schedule as the supporting groups such as Michelin and other large financial supporters are cutting back on their support. I was hoping that maybe the Lister's would just come on their own but it may not be in their current travel plans. We have not had any outside vendors at previous rallies but I think as the group gets larger and larger we will garner more attention from vendors providing services specific to our needs.

Thanks, Bill -- we were given incorrect information, so I'm sorry to have passed it on!! I did know the convenience store was closed, but I never saw anyone in there anyway. But it's an overall lowering of the quality of the Beaudry experience, which we've thought was pretty good in the past.

The restaurant closing should not be a concern to us or the rally. I contacted Michael Day some time back and he indicated that the food was being provided by outside vendors anyway as the food offered by the restaurant was too expensive for our limited budget.

I doubt it - Like most big, busy service departments I suspect they hate the "drop-in need-it-now" business. In the one rally I've attended at Beaudry I don't recall what was advertised in the packet, but I do know they have, as most big parks do, a list of "approved" outside vendors. I've used the one they recommend for rig-washing, and I've seen everything from lube service to windshield replacement going on with outside vendors during our visits there.
As Steve noted, the one commercial thing you can expect from the Beaudry folks are the "helpful" salesmen cruising the lot. They are, for the most part, quite pleasant, and will engage in small talk for quite awhile before asking what your future RV plans are, and letting you know just how much they can help you spend your money on a new rig!

My concern is only with "an overall lowering of the quality of the Beaudry experience" but more importantly the comments re security or the lack thereof considering the location of the facility "wE WERE THERE IN jAN 07...WHILE WE WERE THERE SEVERAL INCIDENTS OCCURRED . WE WERE ACTUALLY TOLD TO not OPEN OUR DOOR UNLESS WE CHECKED TO SEE IS WE KNEW WHO WAS THERE FIRST"

Not doubting that others may have had a different experience but I will say that no such comments were made to me during either of my visits nor did I feel uncomfortable walking around the park at midnight. I can't address the 'lowering of the overall quality of the Beaudry experience' since I had never been to Beaudry's until last December.
