I live in Cabo San Lucas Mexico and I have brought my Direct TV receiver and dish with me. I am not receiving all the channels that I am paying for in my subscription. I have a large round Direct TV dish and a single LMB. Do you know if a diferent shape dish or a multi-head LMB will fix my problem? I donīt know a lot about LMB's or what they are for or how they relate to different shaped discs or satalites. I do know that there are retailers who claim better reception from more satalites with the right dish and LMB. Please educate me in the differences or let me know what is needed for me to receive all the channels that I have signed up for. Also, is it possible to receive channels from the West Coast and East Coast. I currently am using an LA zip code, and am only getting those local channels. I would like to get more if possible.

Not sure of your question.

I'm going to pick a city at random

There are three possible issues here

1: You have not signed an RV-Declaration and expect to get programming from, oh, say Jackson Mississippi, when out of the country, Not going to happen.

2: You have signed a RV declaration but though you can get, oh, say, Chicago anywhere in the us, you are not in the US and thus out of it's broadcast beam as well

3: Something else is wrong.

One thing I noticed. After a long period of POWER OFF. (I'm talking plug out of wall) it took hours before I had my full program guide back

If you are using the same dish you had in LA, and geting the LA local channels, what is it that you want to get that you aren't receiving? What programing package do you have? What aren't you getting in Cabo that you got in LA?

The issue is that I am only getting half of the channels that I am supposed to be getting. I realize that I am out of the country, and DirecTV does not broadcast out of the US. I was wondering if there was a way around it or another service down here that I need to sign up with to get the same channels. The package I have is the basic package with HBO. I have always received the HBO channels except for one, and recently lost one more.

LOLA,

How large is the dish that you are using to receive DirecTV signals? I know that people who travel very far south in Mexico use at least a 1-meter dish to pick up signal from DirecTV. If your dish is smaller than that, you may be suffering from not enough signal strength.

Just a thought (I'm certainly no expert!).
