Yesterday morning DirecTV released a software update. My R-15 immediately began acting strangely.
To make matters worse, I called DirecTV and they had me do a reset. This did not fix my problems. Then they had me reformat my hard drive, thinking the hard drive had been glitched, and do a complete reset wiping out all my recordings and settings.
This made things worse because now I cannot get past step 6 in the step setup. It ends on that screen without a cursor, and the tuner 1 and tuner 2 fields do not appear.
DirecTV has come to the conclusion that either my R15 has gone bad, or their software update had a bug for R15s. So I guess they are asking me to trouble shoot, as they are sending me a replacement R15 on 2 day FedEx.
If the refurbished set works, then the problem is my R15. If the refurbished set does not work, then the problem is in the software.
I am wondering if anyone else with an R-15 is having a problem? My problem did not show up until after I recorded a show.
One simple way to test for the problem is to go to setup, and then to the screen that shows the display of transponder signal strengths. If you do not see the Tuner 1 and Tuner 2 fields on the lower right of that screen, then you have the problem also. I'd like to know if anyone else with an R15 has this problem.

Well one question for you... Do you only have 1 tuner hooked up? I know thats known to cause issues with the R15. I don't service those no more, and I just install them now. So I donno all their issues except past ones.
