Skycasters offers cir in their plans. Is anyone or has anyone used Skycasters before or now? I'd rather have cir (no need for me to worry about FAP ) than the slow download speeds I'm experiencing now.

If you can afford $5 per mo. per kbps then you can eliminate FAP for sure. It adds up to a lot of money once you do the math. Read the fine print before taking the plunge.

Thanks Randy for the info. I'm going to audit my downstream activity for awhile and see exactly what is happening on my bus. This way I can make a somewhat logical decision. I was just curious if anyone is using Skycasters and how they feel about their service?
Mike, I have a few more years of WORKING, that is required. Have to support the one child left in the house, the two resecued bull terriers named Mikey and Vicki and let's not forget the wife. Me I'm easy going and ready at a moments notice to retire any time and start downloading those movies you keep talking about. Mike, if you are retiring soon, can I take your job?
I wish downloading movies and hogging bandwidth was the problem, that is an easy fix. I'll be on the phone to MotoSat for a solution.

We have one Skycasters-using member that I can recall posting. He is on a 256K/1.5M connection with limitation of 1GB per month (or slowdown or pay 10 cents a MB after that), and has always said his speed holds up well. I don't think he has CIR because that would cost so much.

I wish I were fully retiring, and not just from active duty-Army.
I have you beat, I have three kids still under the roof (Im only 38)...however, one is starting her senior year, so WORKING (post- active duty) is implied!
Actually, I start working for L3 Communications 10 September as a Network/iDirect engineer. I look forward to it. This job will center around full motion video (FMV) with iDirect transport at the heart of it. So I am just changing scenery if anything! Wont be wearing the GREEN SUIT anymore and wont have to worry about LENGTHY trips to the sandbox, so that is a plus. Someday, I will fully retire and move back to Florida. Maybe get me one of those fancy RVs like the rich folk have
