We've been on a DW6000 Dustyfoot tripod system for almost four years, and our modem died a week ago. So we upgraded to the HN7000. We are on AMC9. We had to take down the tripod due to high winds, and today, after the new modem arrived, I put it back up and tried to point the dish. We only use an Align-A-Site and the Hughes System Control Center installation/pointing site (no OPI - the one we had died within a week.) I've always been able to point fairly rapidly - after years you generally get the "feel" of it.
However, today, I can't get the signal above 25 (from the new "baseline" of 15 - the DW6000's baseline is 11.)
Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to upload new files or something? Help, please.

While waiting for the pros to responds to your questions, it would seem to me that you need to go through the registration/installer procedures with your new modem. Did they give you a new PIN and SAN?

I was actually able to lock onto the signal and pass ACP, but now when I try and register it keeps aborting due to transmit signal problems.

Have you tried all the various transponders in the Registration-Installer routine? If so, have you tried pointing to another satellite and running the registration there?

I tried the other amc9 transponder, and couldn't get a signal higher than 15. I haven't tried any other satellites, as I didn't know I was allowed to do that. Any in particular?

You can commission on any satellite (not sure about a 7000 modem on SM6, 113W) but I would suggest that you try SM5, 117W, first and then if that fails try any other that you can get a good signal with.

I was on amc 9 with a hn7000 and had signal problems, turned out to be a bad LNB. Hughes replaced it and I was back on line in no time. I did not know the lnbs could go bad. Also did not know that all satellite signals are not equal. Newer satellites are stronger transmitters than older ones. I love my system because it is so versatile. Im on Horizon 2 now.
