On my datastorm F1's transmitter, I can't see the letters for the two male coaxial connections , if there are any. On the tripod I have, the transmitter has two male connections just like the F1. The tripod's transmitter has a ground, by the ground a male connector labeled IFL and on the right side of that is a male connection labeled AP. According to location of these male connections, comparing the two against each other, should I connect the TX cable to the IFL port on the tripod? Also, is it necessary to run a ground wire off the transmitter ground port on the tripods transmitter?

IFL is the correct port

Not necessary for operations. Should it be ?? ... probably. If you have a true ground available then do it.

The AP port is a test port. It is not used in the field at all. Normally there's a little cap on it.

As far as grounding what that does is gets rid of the static build up. If it gets struck by lighting its toast no matter what. The other part of grounding is it helps with carier to noise ratio. C/N. You want your signal carrier to be screaming over the noise. Or you are just creating noise and will not have a good clean signal.
