Since the last software upgrade on Escapees Forum, I and many others have been experiencing very poor response times. It is way slower than any other forum, and slower than almost any other site on the internet. It is not limited to satellite users, and not everyone is seeing the slowdown all the time. Some people using high speed cable, DSL and 3/4G experience the problem only part of the time. It may also be that it depends on what part of the country you are located in. Users near Livingston, TX where the servers are located see excellent performance, even if they are on different ISP's than the server.
The forum administrators have been beating their heads against a wall trying to figure out what is happening. Many of us have sent them trace's and ping stats. They have been working with the software vendor and with their ISP (Consolidated.Net) for several weeks now in an effort to find an answer. So far they have come up blank.
One suggestion was that the web accelerator used at Hughes is causing the problem, but many other users on land lines also see the problem from time to time. From some parts of the country the response times are consistently in the 2-5 second range. For others like me it is consistently in the 6-30 second range, with 12-20 most of the time.
I'm curious if anyone here has any ideas what is going on. I'm even more curious if anyone here using Hughesnet is seeing something different than I am. I know Bill Adams is a frequent user on the forum.
Could some of you try it and see what kind of response times you get. The URL is www.rvnetwork.com. You don't need to register to view. Try opening the various forums and topics. Post back here your average response times and your impression of the performance relative to other forums and web sites you visit.

I am on 89W DataStorm and just tried the escapees.com forum. It was very fast no slowness at all. Bing bang each page came up fast. Maybe thay fixed it.

My Galaxy17 TPX990 was very responsive as a comparison I switched over to my lap top and Comcast Cable. The cable was faster because it is faster all around.
I did not see a noticeable speed loss on 91W to begin to complain about. It snapped page to page except for the page to the Parks to Parking, a bit sluggish but nothing to be concerned with from my perspective.
1299 198 was the last Hughes speed test and that is pretty steadfast over the years that I have been associated with Galaxy 17. It was better when I was on TPX 1410.
The times I slow is during a Florida rain storm.
