Last night while the outside temp was at 100 degrees, I checked and only had a signal SQ of 14, I took the garden hose and sprayed the weather guard on the head for a wile and the SQ went from 14 up to 29. I couldn't get it any higher. This morning it is 71 degrees out and I have a SQ of 45 and SS of 450. I am on with it now. I will watch and wait for the sun to come up and see what happens.

Well sometime around 7:30 I lost the sat signal on the F1. Just shortley after the sun cleared the top of my hopuse and hit directley on the antenna, thats when I lost the signal. Not much difference in air temp started at 71 degrees and it was 80 degrees when I noticed that I had lost the signal. I than ran a new line from the LNB to the D2 and the modem. I now have a signal again. Guess I'll wait it out and see what happens now. Lost signal about 10 minutes later. Attached REC & TX cable direct to the modem so it would be like a fixed system. Still no signal, put the modem from my system in line, still no signal. Looks like it is the LNB.

I re-plased the LNB yesterday. (got it from D Marr) Got a signal lock around 15 minutes. Since that time I have moved the MH to 3 different locations and got a signal lock every time. Even had lock on in 5 minutes one time. Outside temp has been over 100 degrees, so it looks like I have the problem taken care of. Thanks to D Bradner, D Marr, B Adams and all others who posted suggestions. Sonney is comming in today to pick it up and take it back home to Arkansas. Again Thanks to all.
Larry

I want to say a great big thanks to Mr. Larry Brandt. I picked up this used unit last spring and, as I am electronic illiterate, I depended on Larry to help, well, actually do whatever necessary to make it work. Don Marr was patient and very helpful to me. Also, from reading this forum, I see you'all are a friendly, helpful bunch. I'm sure I will have many questions in the future so I look forward to making use of this forum.
Thanks again everybody. It sure is nice to turn this thing on and have it actually work!!

Sonney, a small suggestion. Now that you have a working system and have enjoyed the expertise of several folks hers may I suggest that you continue to log in daily and continue to read the information that is so freely offered. You will find that you have only experienced your first small problem that baffled you. I am not sure as to the number of years I have been a member here but I become aware and most of the time learn something from every problem some one has.

Bill, I did that yesterday. Larry had suggested it.
Already I have two questions:
If the hot sun killed the lnb when I'm home should I keep it stowed when not in use ( I still have the dsl line ) ? or is the up,down wear & tear more harmful?
#2 When up does the dish act as a lightning rod to the motorhome?

#1 I doubt it was the sun that killed the LNB but rather the heat exacerbated the problem once the electronics began to fail. #2 I have never seen it act as a lightening rod but my guess as to when it might act that way would be during a lightening storm!
