To quote somebody-or-other, "All things are possible, many things are difficult." I've looked into adding NMEA-over-serial compatibility to DSLocator, and it definitely falls into that category. Doesn't mean it'll necessarily never happen, just means that you shouldn't hold your breath.

Thanks,, In fact that is more or less the kind of answer I was looking for....
And breath is never held where freeware is concerned
I do thank you for considering it. One of the major problems you will have to address is how to find the blasted GPS, it tends to move around a bit on my system depending on where I plug the Serial adapter in (my old system did not have that problem)

Hey great utility! Have you considered pulling the Lat/Long from the registry where Don's DSSatTool puts it? It would be a great for us triplodders who use GPS's to input our location with DSSatTool and then have to do it again for DSLocator. Isn't it great having lots of users to give you suggestions on how to spend your time? :-) thanks David

That's actually more difficult than you might think, because of interactions with some fairly complex programming that's already in DSLocator. Nonetheless, I've put it on my to-do list for some future version.
In the meanwhile, it might be fairly easy for Don to change DSSatTool in a helpful way... My program already supports pasting in latitude and longitude, so if he were to add a button to copy the lat+lon to the clipboard, you could then paste it into DSLocator in one swell foop.
Don, if you're interested, let me know and I'll e-mail you the right sort of format to use.

OK, DSSatTool now has a "Copy Lat/Long to Clipboard" button. Use the button, then click in the latitude box on DSLocator and paste it in. Both Lat and Long will paste from the one box.

I've been trying to find a way to extract lon/lat from MS Streets and Trips w/GPS to clipboard or otherwise but no luck so far. BTW I'm slightly proficient in VB so if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them! lee

Oh, I followed the logical path and got it, Now the fun part... Packed up and headed for Almo Twp today (North of Kalamazoo) forgot my aiming compass (ARGH)
As you can see, (by the fact you are reading this) I figured out where to point the sattalite.

I probably posted under the wrong category. I want to thank Sterling for the DSLoactor. As I said in my prior post:
I am a new F1 owner and new to the Dastormusers.
I just tried the DSLocator. It is sure a lot easier than doing cut and paste.
I hope the campground information wil be of assistance.
We won't be much help this week as we travel across Georia stopping at high school parking lots. (My wife is driving and I am riding a bicycle on the BRAG...Bicycle Ride Across Georgia).
