Everyone needs to keep in mind that, if the recipient doesn't want to receive this, it is just spam - please honor requests to remove if/when you receive them!
I've had another suggestion that sounds good, which is to add your webnote to the e-mail, as it can be informative about where you are, or why. I think I will see about adding it as an optional item (checkbox on the mail list page). Following the normal message would be one blank line, followed by (using my current one as an example):

Webnote: Sounds good to me. Now as long as you are "Adding extra's" I have a request. Would you add a checkbox that would SUSPEND the automatic mailing if a person did NOT want a certain location sent to their mailing list. I'd hate to have to delete and then re-enter all my names on the list, just because I didn't want a mailing to go out to MY WORLD.
I already know the response I will get from some folks...just don't put yourself on the map. Maybe I'm the only one with this want!
This automatic mailing of location changes is by far one of the GREATEST ADD-ON's you have done on the mapping program...THANK YOUUUU DON

Don, Gypsy_John's idea has some merit. Give each user the ability to turn on/off the notification. May not want everyone to know which casino we are visiting! Gary

Don, this is a question that occurred to me:
Does the mailing get triggered by the fact of posting coordinates (as in a 9 day update), or by the fact of the lat. and long. actually being changed? I wouldn't want to send e-mails unless I really had moved.
Excellent suggestions/features so far. I love it. Thank you.

It requires an actual change of both Lat and Long, although they can be very tiny changes. Updating with the same data does not invoke an e-mail.
I agree that there needs to be an on/off for the option. I'll get on that.
I've added the webnote item. It is "per recipient" and the only way you can add it to people you've already put on the list is to delete/add again. If you've done a lot, let me know by private e-mail (include your member number) and I can change them en-masse.
Another issue that has popped up regarding the WEBNOTE. You might want to either put a physical limitation on the number of characters that can be entered or at least tell everyone on the mapping program that they can't write a book!

Ok, I will weigh in here (when did I ever not weigh in!).
It would be nicer if individual email addr could be checked on/off without a delete and re-enter action - yes, a picky point, as I do not expect to change the send flag very often.
It would be nice if the DS locator had a check box for "Send email notifications" So that one could enable/disable the email broadcast on individual submissions without going to the map web page first to do so. Sometimes the gps coords will jiggle around the least significant number without moving at all, causing a rebroadcast if one only wanted to update the web note.

I can make the individual ones editable - I went for quick-and-dirty with just add/delete initially, since edit is a bit more involved. I will see about getting that working shortly.
On the second point, particularly for people who come to the forums regularly, the map form is mighty easy when you are updating without a location change.

If updating without a location change, one could suspend email notification then reactivate it when starting to travel again. That's what I have done to prevent accidental notices when I haven't actually moved.

I've made individual e-mail listings editable now.
What pleases me when I add something is that it gets used, and this one is doing pretty well. So far 133 members have added 1027 e-mail addresses to their notification lists!
