I consider myself pretty technology literate but I am stumped and would appreciate any suggestions. I have been trying to use the new notifier to send e-mails out when I move. However, none seem to be going out.
I am sending from my Yahoo mail address. I see on one of the topics that Hotmail may be a problem with spam filters. Maybe Yahoo is also?
I do get e-mails notifiying me when someone moves near me or if I move near to where anyone else is.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Bob Price

The sending address will not matter, so long as it is a valid one - the send occurs from my mail server, not from Yahoo.
The move you made at 4:57 PST this morning should have triggered e-mails; were e-mails turned on at that point? The mail logs do not show any e-mails sent from your address at that time.
The 7 moves you've made since then all involved Lat and/or Long changes too small to trigger an e-mail.
To test the system, move both lat and long a full degree (easy to remember how far to move it back), wait two minutes, and then move back. If you don't want the fake move to trigger an e-mail, suspend the list before that move, then activate it again for the move back to your real location.

I apologize in advance to anyone who may have gotten an email that I just moved into or out of their area.
I just changed my email send address to my yahoo email account and moved myself on the map. I got the notification email of my move on my Hughes email address from my yahoo email address. So Yahoo did not block the email.
I also got the email from Don's account listing the folks I was (imaginarily) moving close to so I can confirm that the latest addition to the program works properly.

I have Michael in my "follow" list, so I got e-mails on both moves.
The logs show that Bob's e-mails also went out around the time that Michaels did.
Bob: One oddity that shouldn't affect delivery, but will affect replies, is that your own e-mail address is incorrectly entered. I know that because I get bounce messages when e-mails to that account are sent from the system. Looks like you are probably missing one digit at the end before the @ sign.
I move a full 5 degrees lat and long, waited about 3 minutes, and moved back. I suspended e-mail for the "false move" and enabled before the "real move". Still no e-mails. I know I must have something set wrong but I can't figure out what. Any ideas?
Thanks

All four e-mails went out at 10:07:08 PDT this morning. I can't tell why they didn't arrive, but all were sent from the incorrect e-mail address, so you would not have seen any bounces. You might try it again now that you have the e-mail corrected - that way if there is a bounce involved you will see it.
The 4 e-mails did finally go though. I checked with the recepients. Looks like the were received between 12:00 and 12:30 PDT. Thanks much. We'll see what happens on the next move:)

There are a bunch of things that have to be done to make the mails go, and most failures mean one or another is not there:
You have to have people in the list The list has to be turned on You have to move at least a modest amount of both Lat and Long You have to have your own e-mail listed
The last one is your failure - your e-mail field is blank. The e-mails come from you, so there has to be a valid e-mail address for the sender.

I have added a new feature to the Map Form:
If you have addresses in your e-mail list, and the list is not suspended, there will be a "Click for immediate send" button below the Suspend button.
This will mark your entry as though you had moved, and the e-mails should go on the next pass which is typically within a couple of minutes. This does not update your position, so if you are renewing a non-moved position you should do that separately.

If everything is setup correctly on the map form, the e-mails go just fine when you use DSLocator.
The only time I've seen that be a problem is with the e-mail addresss - sometimes people will set up their own e-mail address in the map form, but fail to get it in DSLocator's settings. If that happens, when you submit it wipes out your e-mail address and so the e-mails don't go.
When I submitted to the map, I used the symbol & in the message therefore the message was incomplete. I then used the new immediate send button to correct the note. The note on the map was changed, however no emails were sent. Am I misunderstanding the function of the new button?
