I just upgraded from a pc to new laptop. Downloaded and installed Map Submit. I cannot get it to connect and retrieve the data from the controller. Does the Controller IP have to be in the box? Or does it automatically find it? If not, where do I locate the Controller IP? What else could be causing it not to connect?
Thanks, B.W.

In the center of the page (left to right) close to the top is the controller IP box. For folks using a 'standard' setup, that would be 192.168.1.250. You should enter the IP into that box.

I tried placing the IP: 192.168.1.250 in the Controller IP box. Still doesn't connect to the controller. Tried un-installing and re-installing the program. That didn't work either. I think perhaps the program is not compatible to Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit Operating System. Any more ideas or suggestions. In the mean time, I'm trying to submit my current locations using the "Map Form" online on the forum. Would much rather use the DataStorm Map Submit program.
All help appreciated.

Do you know if 192.168.1.250 is correct? In other words, if you put that IP into a browser do you get the controller page?

You can use the Map Submit program without it connecting to the controller - manual Lat/Long, which is what you have to do with the Map Form.

If the IP is correct, most commonly the problem is that the firewall is not allowing it to communicate with the controller, and you will have to enter an exception to allow that to happen.

I'm using Vista Home Premium 64-bit and the Map Submit program works for me -- in fact I have to use it rather than the DS Locator program I used to use. I don't remember doing anything special to make it work . . . .

Yeah, I probably should have added that if you are not running a Linksys router you may be on a different IP. I run mine in a 'non-standard' 192.168.0.250.

Don, is right, you need to make sure where IP your controller is located first, then put that info into the Map Submit program.

I can open the D3 browser at: 192.168.1.250
I also went in to the Windows Firewall settings and allowed the IP address (192.168.1.250) and the Program (DSMapSubmit)and it still will not connect to the controller. My new laptop came with a preview version of Norton. Thought maybe a conflict there so I disabled it along with adding exceptions for the MapSubmit and still will not connect to controller. Uninstalled MapSubmit and re-installed latest version, still no connection. I am using a new Linksys WRT54G router. All help and suggestions are appreciated. Keep em' coming!!!

Check that none of the periods are commas. That happens a surprising number of times!

Try downloading and installing the D3Admin program and see if you can connect.

It should do that without issue assuming that you set the IP address to 192.168.1.250.
I would still suspect that Norton is causing at least part of the problem as it is famous for blocking access to local addresses. If you have the software, I would suggest uninstalling Norton completely (I recommend that everyone do this anyway and leave it that way) and try again to see what happens.

Ignore the following: Are you connected to your own network? Or using the campground's wifi or your aircard? You have to be connected to your private network for the 192.168.1.250 (or 192.168.0.250) to work.

Since he said that he can open the MotoSAT D3 browser at the 192.168.1.250 address, he would have to be connected to his own in-house network.

Yes, I am connected to my own network. Thanks TrekkerSmith. Since Norton is just a trial version supplied w/new laptop and expires in 4 days anyway, will un-install it and try again. Thanks Bill
