DSMapSubmit throws this error when I try to retrieve coords. Also, when I try to change settings at 192.168.1.1 (e.g. change time zone) it kicks me off the connection. Using latest version downloaded this morning

Also, DSMapSubmit does not find ID using cookie, though I have set IE to allow cookies from www.DatastormUsers.com, logged into forum and checked to remember me. I always have to use my login username/password.

DSLocator successfully connects to controller and retrieves coords, but cannot find DatastormUsers ID.

The cookie method, which is the only method that DSLocator can use, is not available with any recent version of Internet Explorer. That is why I added the alternate login/password was added to DSMapSubmit.

When DSMapSubmit will not pull coordinates the most common problem is that the IP entered is wrong. Not necessarily the numbers (presumably 192.168.1.250 in your case), but things like getting a comma in instead of a dot, or having a leading or trailing space.

The only other common problem is having a firewall block the program. That can usually be told by whether you can submit the information - if you can it isn't being blocked.

Your router issue I can't answer.

OK, I understand the DSLocator/cookie issue.

When in DSMapSubmit I don't see anyplace where I can specify the IP address.

I did Retrieve Most Recent Info (I had used DSAndroid to submit earlier) and was able to Submit Location using that info, so firewall must not be a problem.

Note: I just had to replace hard disk so am working from a fresh start since I last used DSMapSubmit on the old hard disk.

It's labeled "Controller IP" and is about in the middle of the screen on the top line.

Thanks, Don. I found it - right under my nose, of course! Duh.

The IP for my controller in 192.168.0.1 and I can connect to it successfully using IE but still cannot connect with DSMapSubmit.

The modem is 192.168.0.1, so it is unlikely that the controller is at that IP. Conventionally it will be something ending in 250.

Dave,
Your D4 (or J1) will be found at 192.168.1.250. Your modem will be found at 192.168.0.1 and your router will be found at 192.168.1.1.

OK. Now I have the three pieces of equipment straightened out as to address. What's even better, I have the info all written down in an Evernote file so I don't forget it (I now just have to remember it is there). Thanks Don and Bill.

So, I can access all three using IE but DSMapSubmit still does not connect to the controller using the controller IP 192.168.1.250.

All I can say is to try retyping that IP. It is so easy to do a leading or trailing space, or a comma that looks like a dot.

Interestingly enough, I just downloaded a copy of DSmapsubmitter and it will not connect to my J1 at 192.168.1.250 either. Just says cannot connect to controller.
Strange.

My controller is at 192.168.7.250 and DSMapSubmit 1.0.24 finds it.

Sorry, hope I did not waste anyone time!!!!
No matter how many times you look at something you have done wrong it's sometimes impossible to see the error.
I typed in 129.168.1.250 and I checked it 2 or 3 times being absolutely convinced that was the correct address and I could not figure out why it would not connect. Now, hours later, I opened the program and immediately saw the error of my ways.
The system works great when the correct address was entered.
