I hope that the new Rice Ranch sites will be ready by this season. The plan for Rice Ranch for this year is to empty the north side of Kuehn Road, for Beaudry RV, and add vendor spaces on the east side of hi-way 95, south of Kuehn Road. An access driveway is planned about 1/4 mile south of Kuehn Road.
I will update here when I find out any more, appreciate the same if someone else finds out. Otis The Pizza Wheel

Rice Ranch has not developed the new proposed lots on the east side of hi-way 95 and south of Kuehn Rd., according to Dolores Eickerman who has managed and stayed on the south side of Rice Ranch for the last 20 years. I have a deposit on lot B-32, on the east side of hi-way 95. Dolores and her husband are returning there the first week in October. She ask me to contact her then for a status, and in the meantime, do not send the check til we see who will be where.
I hope to get to see all of you who will visit Quartzite this winter. Otis

Personally, as much as I have a large distaste for the town and the location, I don't see anything coming along anytime in the near future that will effect the fortunes of QZ. QZ has taken a great deal of time and effort to make themselves the largest flea market in the US (World?) and folks like Kenny King and his carnival under fabric (yuk, poohie!) have capitalized on this effort. QZ is growing up and there's not a dang thing anyone can do about it and there's not a thing anyone can do (including moving to Ajo, AZ) to stop its continued growth. If a business person wants to do business with the QZ crowd, they are going to have to be in QZ.
Well. I see Mr Adams is still spewing his B.S. on the internet forums. I run across his venomous posts each year around this time. I have run across Mr. Adams' personal attacks on me, in particular, and Quartzsite, in general, every time I have Goggled "quartzsite" and "kenny king". Apparently, Mr. Adams is an expert on Quartzsite and he has some special "personal" agenda in my case.
Mr. Adam is obviously an expert when it comes to Quartzsite. Personally, I have only been attending the Quartzsite Pow Wow since 1975. I started my first business that year, selling RV awnings off the roof of a 1970 Explorer motorhome in trailer parks, and then at Quartzsite. I started out at Clouds Jemboree on the East end of town, soon had multiple locations in the other shows that sprung up in town, and then, after 9 years of working the flea markets, started the RV Show. Oh yea! I forgot to mention that I also turned that mobile RV awning business I started on the 1970 Explorer in 1975 into "the largest single outlet of RV awnings in the world." Now, after 23 years of hard work, my RV Show is "the largest consumer attended RV Show in the United States."
Does this sound like Mr. Adams has another agenda when he refers to Quartzsite with the following statement "I have a large distaste for the town" and especially an agenda towards me and the show with stuff like this. "...and folks like Kenny King and his carnival under fabric (yuk, poohie!)" Well said Bill and very professional!
I will stop now. I do not really remember Bill, who was an exhibitor at our show in the past. Apparently Mr. Adams had a bad experience at Quartzsite or was not competetive with other vendors in Quartzsite and has chosen to post these personal attacks, on numerous forums on the internet, in retribution.
Bill. Get a life and get over it! You embarrass yourself with these posts and you insult all of the 100's of thousands of RVers that attend Quartzsite each year and especially all of the professional business people that are able to make an honest living at the "carnival under fabric (yuk, poohie!"
Very truly yours, Kenny King

Hmmm...Mr. King, I've never been to Quartzsite but from what I read I'm afraid it's you who've embarrassed yourself. I've been around the block and my experience is that it's always one type of person that turns quirky, off-the-beaten track places turn into tourist-trap supermalls. And, for me, the more these places get that way the less they are worth visiting. This is a common, respectable perspective that Mr. Adams' seems to share at least to a certain extent. And considering the tone of your last post, I think it's clear whatever Quartzsite was, it's not that way anymore and there's really no reason for me to go there.
That's all I have to say, I'm sure you will want to indulge in the last word. By all means, be my guest.

Kenny, You imply that I am not professional and then you begin your post with
quote:Well. I see Mr Adams is still spewing his B.S. on the internet forums.
No further comment necessary.
If you had actually read the entire thread, you would have found that I was actually defending QZ (in retrospect I have no idea why). Many of the QZ vendors are moving to Yuma and Ajo in hopes of better vending conditions. I stated
quote:QZ is growing up and there's not a dang thing anyone can do about it and there's not a thing anyone can do (including moving to Ajo, AZ) to stop its continued growth. If a business person wants to do business with the QZ crowd, they are going to have to be in QZ.
The fact that I don't appreciate the way you treat your vendors is just something I enjoy throwing in as a bonus. Ever since you e-mailed me personally with a "cease and desist order" and telling me that you were "throwing me out of your show and refunding my money" after you read a post that I had made a year prior to you reading it, I have enjoyed my QZ posts more and more. As you found out when I kept asking you to send that refund, I had never signed up to be a vendor that year and never will again! I am still a vendor at QZ and I do quite well, thank you! I am just no longer a vendor under the tent and that's a very good thing for both of us.

Reminds me of the April Fool joke when NPR had someone claiming to be Ex President Nixon call in and say something like, "I never had anything to do with Watergate and promise to never do it again."
The impersonator also said he was planning on running for President again and NPR received many panic calls from folks who actually believed it was Nixon who said it....

Bill,I would like to apologize to you for starting this topic. What I thought would be a semi-informative topic, turned out to be a personel attack on a honest and informative business mans reputation. Completely uncalled for. Sincerely Mike Flynn

Mike, Please do not think that what Kenny King posted has anything to do with you or anything else on this forum. We all welcome your comments as well as the others who had comments and questions. Think about it, how many people spend a lot of time "Googling" themselves? This speaks volumes of the poster. I am sure that as a person Kenny King is a really nice guy and just wants others to say nice things about him. You can't blame him for that. Why he takes these kinds of comments publicly I have no idea. Your topic and all of the followup posts are just what an "RV General and Travel" topic should be about. Please do not let one persons misguided post sway you from making new posts or replies in the future. Everyone is welcome here (even me and my somewhat one-sided opinions) and those that choose to attack another poster don't usually last very long here (Don won't block them, they just tend to fade away).

Mike, No worries! I don't think he will be back, but even if he does, my feelings about QZ will remain ambivalent. See everyone there in January!

Gee how many units does it take to pay for an outside small spot along the BIG TENT? I think I will stay away from that Circus as a Vendor.
Good luck in Q Bill. I will come by and say hi. Are you going to be around where you were last Year?

Steve, I have vending spaces for rent if you know anyone looking for a space. Rice Ranch has become a debacle for many vendors this year. Sorry, no (other) Datastorm dealers allowed on my lot, tho!
