As 8/27/08 Installer not responding to cries of help, I've spent many hours reading to no avail. Therefore, I'm posting in hopes of some help.

Like so many others problems: With d3 controller OFF: LNB light illuminatetd; have internet. D3 ON: LAN light lit; busy flashing; lose modem internet light & internet connectivity. Modem and/or Controller delay upon start-up also lost since problem began.

Have performed the following:
Forced Range - No resolution
Trying to open 192.168.1.250 or 192.168.0.250 in web browser - page cannot open/timed out error in both Mozilla & I.E.
Trying to open both in DOS command screen - sits on connecting for 30 seconds; flashes text and closes faster than possible to read
9pin on rear - appears would need to push down two teeeny tabs to release; I'm a bit reluctant; but did wiggle and unscrewed & replaced all colored wires (which oddly were folded over the plastic covering)
Am able to move the dish base side to side about 6 inches - to which ever side the base is left I'm still able to connect to my network.

Have only raised/lowered a few times - can't believe the UCB would go bad this quick.

Can't put off departure for to much longer. How far can I drive in raised position?

This is a quote from the Motosat installation manual that will allow you to lower the dish with a 9volt battery or with the power supply power wire...and it is normal for the colored control cable wires to have the conductor folded over the insulation, they make a better connection this way...

MANUALLY MOVING THE DISH
WARNING – Make sure that you remove the 9-Pin Control Cable Connector from the back of the main controller
BEFORE you put a power source to the dish control wires or you WILL damage the circuitry on the main controller. Or use a battery 12-36v could be a 9v radio battery or a rechargable drill battery etc...

Improper wiring can
cause damage to the
DataStorm electronics
(in the Mount as well as
in the Controller). Be
alert!

Bk = Black
Br = Brown
Rd = Red
Or = Orange
Yl = Yellow
Gn = Green
Bl = Blue
Wh = White
Pr = Purple

+12v Ground *Ignition Stow

9 to 36 VDC

Minimum Voltage 12 Volts DC

If you need to manually move the dish, you may do so by removing the 9-pin connector from the back of the main
controller. Then, using a small screwdriver, remove the wires from the connector and plug in certain colors into the 12-volt power lead that powers the main controller.
ORANGE & RED wires - raise and lower the dish (Elevation).
BROWN & BLACK wires - rotate the dish (Azimuth).
BROWN AND RED wires - tilt the dish face (Skew).
Simply reverse the wires to make the movement reverse.

More info .... Was able to manually get into Microsoft Telnet Client via a DOS command. Now, when attempting to connect to 192.168.0.250 or 192.168.1.250 I receive an error "Could not open connection to the Host on port 23: Connection Failed" does this help?

YOU SHOULD NEVER ATTEMPT TO DRIVE WITH THE ANTENNA RAISED AS YOU ARE CERTAIN TO HIT SOME KIND OF AN OBSTRUCTION.
Step 1: Turn off the D3 and push and hold in both the search and stow buttons while you turn the power back on. This will make all 6 lights come on. Now, manually set the IP address of your computer to 192.168.0.10 and the subnet to 255.255.255.0. No other entries are necessary.
With that done click on Start>Run and in the Open box type in telnet 192.168.0.250 (there's a space in there) and you should see a DOS box that says D2boot% (maybe D3boot%) Type in nvclear and hit enter. You should get a message above clearing your RAM. Close this box and then turn off the D3 for 10 seconds and then on again. Look at the bottom of the D3 if you don't know what software version is installed. If you have 3.9.4 or higher (and you should) then the D3 has now been reset to a 192.168.1.250 address. You will need to restore your computer's IP addressing to Obtain and IP address automatically and ensure that your computer picks up a 192.168.1.10x address. Assuming that it does then you can open the MotoSAT screen at the above address.
Assuming that you get into this screen and you have reconnected the wires in the green plug (yes, folded over the insulation is correct) then you can click on the link of the left to Calibrate Dish and then click Next. This will run the dish through all of its movements and when complete the dish will be stowed and ready for travel. It will NOT be ready to be deployed again so you will need to get back on line so we can help you further, call MotoSAT to get your system reconfigured or call one of the dealers on the forum who offered paid telephone tech. support.
I will be watching this topic for awhile if you want to ask any questions or I am available now by phone for a fee.

Thank You Very Much Mr. Adams for your lengthy reply..... I did not get anywhere

1) Holding the Stow & Search buttons simultaneously while turning on Did Not Work. Neither did: a) unplugging from power supply and holding while hubby plugged in power cord; b) removing small green power plug from rear of controller. After about 15 seconds the LAN light goes steady & Busy flashes.

2) Changed IP addy - yet still when in telnet mode tries to connect then DOS screen flashes & closes.

Unfortunately, I am 300 miles south of the border in Mainland Mexico and must depart no later than Thursday. This system is not even 2 months old. What do you suggest - Please!
Thanks in advance

It sounds like you are not releasing the search and stow buttons after you power the unit up. As soon as you power it on all lights will light up and you need to let go. Try again. Even if you are doing it right I have seen it take a couple of tries. Just be sure all six lights come on.

Thanks for checking back on me....
1) Was successful in turning on all 6 lights. Which are currently on.
2) EVERY time I manually change IP config to 0.10 I lose the internet. I have now reset back to 1.1
3) EVERY time I type telnet, get "connecting" message & then a flash of letters and DOS box closes. Tried both 1.250 & 0.250
4) STILL when trying 0.250 and 1.250 in browser Will Not Open.

I don't know how comfortable I feel in my abilities to use a 9v battery to stow dish as suggested elsewhere.

You are not going to need the internet. You need to go back and follow my directions. You mention setting back to 1.1, that's the address that should be in your router and never on your computer! With everything configured to Obtain an IP address automatically, your computer should be picking up a 192.168.1.100 (or 101, 102, etc.).
For the routine described above you use manual IP addressing with the 192.168.0.10.

Followed on-line instructs to change manually the IP addy.
Opened wi-fi antenna properties & details. Chagned IP to 0.10 and copied all the rest of the "details" info.
Then could no longer connect to internet without returning to "automatically obtain".
Should I connect laptop directly to modem via ethernet?

You do NOT need to be able to connect to the internet!
Just follow the instructions.

Changed IP to 0.10 tried telnet, received error "cannot connect via port 23; connection failed".

Was successful on opening browser to 192.168.1.250 which went to "Upgrade Firmware" not a MotoSat site where I could get configurations

OK, that means that you still do not have the computer IP address correct. You would not be able to open a 1.250 address if your computer is set to a 0.xx address. You are going to have to fix that problem first and then the rest will work out. WAIT! Don't do anything. Turn off the D3 wait 10 seconds and turn it on again. You should now be able to access the D3 screen at the 1.250 address.

just an FYI for future reference...when entering a telnet session you can type "cmd" (without the quotes) in the 'run' window to get a command prompt, then type the telnet command. this way the window will remain open untill you close it, so you can see what it is doing.

Bizarre, Go Figure, Why ... This morn turned on Mozilla and the 1.250 browser opened onto MotoSat. I am very encouraged One Step Forward. Thank you Bill for continuing to check on me. Will post status again.
