Recently I had a upsetting event occur while trying to get my system running after a move. Relocated to the Central CA cost (Port San Luis) and turned the old reliable F1/D3 system on for a search for SATMEX 5 at 970. It oculd find SATMEX 6 and AMC 16 just fine, good signal strength (670-700) with a signal quality of 29 or so. Searched and searched (over an hour) but never found SATMEX 5, but would stop in the vacenity of where SATMEX 5 should be but fail to ID the signal. This was on Saturday night late, so I turned everything off. On Sunday the search was on again, but again no SATMEX 5, just the other two. Move the RV left about 10 feet (you never know about interference [Smile] ). No joy! By Monday I had relocated the RV about 200 ft closer to the water. Still no joy. Decided I couldn't afford to miss CNBC's Mad Money and the latest crisis on Wall Street, so I manually set the azimuth to a location between the two sats and at an Az-El the D3 stopped at but couldn't get a ID from. This was also the Az-EL where the DTV signal nearly peaked. Watched TV but still no internet. Shut everything down and prepared to "go-to-the-roof" this morning. Switched the AC inverter on this morning, watched the morning reports and wala the modem had locked up. The D3 shows a signal quality of 53 but a sig strength of only 99. I am running D3 v3.9.3-1 and the 7-7-08 sat table. Everything worked fine, earlier in Sep, with this load. Any ideas about what is going on? This is more stressful than the stockmarket and Congress together!

You might verify that the config info is the same on your D3 and your modem--

I have found that the Symbol rate seems to change arbitrarily from 30 to 33 Msps and back to 30 on the modem and that has caused me similar problems on Satmex 6 if I don't make them match--

Perhaps it also happens on Satmex 5--

Motosat has posted a new sattable specifically to deal with a SatMex5 Horizontal issue (970 is horizontal). You can download it from www.motosat.com in the internet download section.

It has a number of other changes from my table, so it will take me some time to reconcile the differences and get a new table posted here.

Hughes changed my configuration this week, without any notice. I was having the same problems as you and when I called MotoSat tech, they found that the parameters had changed from 11xx to 990 and from H/H to V/H. Not nice of Hughes IMHO.

It may not be nice, but they've been doing it steadily for more than a year now, and I don't expect them to stop. If you use my D2/D3Admin program it will tell you when the configuration changes.

Thanks all. Good to know I wasn't the only one affected. I will get the new sat table. What are the experiences with F3 v3.9.5? I am still running 3.9.3. What does the new version improve?
