I have a HN7000S modem, D2 controller in my motor home. I just replaced my Linksys router with another Linksys router. I have gotten it to work and connect to the Internet wireless, but I am not able to find and open the the Linksyst router setup page 192.168.1.1 or the DataStorm setup page controller at 192.168.1.250. I have attempted using Firefox and IE and using favorite link and typing in the ip address listed above. I always get the the message that says Failure to connect to the web server.
I have made contact with Linksys but they weren't very helpful. They even suggested resetting the router, which I did to no avail.
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who can help me resolve these two issues.
Thanks

You need to look at your computer IP settings and see what the router is setting your computer IP. If the router is not at 192.168.1.1 by default then you will not be able to 'see' the D3. Some LinkSys are using a different default IP. You can log into the router and change it to the 1.1 address if it is something else.

If this is a new Linksys router than it should be using the 192.168.1.1 IP address but your D2 might have been setup to use a 192.168.0.250 address and the Ethernet cables from the modem and the D2 going into the LAN ports on the router (nothing in the WAN/Internet port). If that's the case you are going to either need to get the D2 reset to the correct 192.168.1.250 (yes, I mean correct in my opinion) or you need to turn off the DHCP in the new router. If you choose that setup and you want to access the Linksys router you would need to manually set your computer to a manual IP in the 1.xxx range, open the router page at 1.1 and then return everything to normal.

Thanks for the answers. Don said to check my computer IP address. Is my computer IP and the router IP address the same?

Thank you Don and Bill for your answers. I have a couple questions.
1. Don said to check my computer IP settings, are the computer and router IP setting the same? 2. Bill, yes, my D2 was originally setup at 192.168.1.250. Also, you said to return everything to normal, what is normal? And, how do I manually set my IP address?
Thanks

The router sets the computer IP address. For example, if the router uses 192.168.1.1 for its IP then you computer will be setup with a similar IP which generally will be something like 192.168.1.1xx. You can do a Google search for information on manually changing your IP address as if varies depending upon your computer operating system. Many of the dealers on the forum can also offer paid telephone tech. support if you can't get it working on your own.

Ok, I have uninstalled the router set up, reset the router and set the security for the router. I did all the router settings hardwired to the router so I was/am able to get to the router setup page. The router is set at the default IP of 192.168.1.1 I am able to connect to the Internet wireless. However, I still can't connect to the router setup page wireless, only hardwired. I am thinking there must be something in the router setup that I need to change, but I don't know what. Also, can you tell which security password changes the login password from the default password? Every place I saw something like passphrase, password etc. I entered a long string of letters and numbers. Now, the login password and the key phrase to hook up this network are are the same and I don't know which one to change to make the login password different. Can you help? Thanks

As a security issue, many routers do not allow wireless users access to the router setup by default. Whether yours has a setting to change that I don't know, but it is a setting I would not change personally.

I would first go back to the beginning. Reset it all and get online with no security and nothing changed from the defaults. Now, can you access the page with a wireless connection? What router are you using? If you can access the router with a wireless connection while not secure than I could change one setting at a time (while hardwired) and then try to connect again. SSID, reconnect, password, reconnect, etc. You will either make it to the end of your changes or you will find the error of your ways.

Update on my issue. I am now able to connect to the router and modem pages wireless; however, I still can't connect to the D2 controller, either wireless or wired at 192.168.1.250. Is there some place in the router setup that I need to enter the 192.168.1.250 address. pr change some automatically entered setting so the router will "point" to the controller? I also can't deploy the dish from the D2 controller search button.
Thanks,
Preston

If the modem is not talking to the D2, the D2 will not deploy. I suspect that you still have a configuration issue but it might be with the D2. Try manually setting the computer to a 0.10 IP address and see if you can reach the D2 at 0.250. If not, put the D2 in boot mode and see if you can telnet to the D2 at the 0.250 address and let us know.
