[SOLVED] - see my post a few down for the resolution.

I've been working with RTC trying to get off of 91W/985 since the D3 doesn't understand the 985 transponder - RTC said no problem doing an AOT to another transponder.

Yesterday they put me on 91W/1070/30 and I've been trying to get commissioned on my new assignment.

I got the dish on 91W/985/21.5 (my old assignment) with all lights lit except System. As soon as I plugged in the the new transponder and symbol rate I lost the Receive and Transmit light, so there was no chance of passing cross pol on the new assignment.

Back to my old 985/21.5 assignment to run through the commissioning process and I got all the way through (welcome motosat motosat to Hughesnet, bla, bla, bla, accepted the User Agreement) and then finally I get this:

Registration Error

WebACS Error 326005 (ADAPTER_TYPE_NOT_SUPPORTED_BY_FC012)

The SAN number you have entered is not valid to activate the HUGHES equipment you have installed.
Please review the order and confirm the installation details.

If you require further assistance, please contact Customer Support.

RTC is escalating the situation to Hughes and said not to expect a fast response - could be tomorrow before they hear back.

My first thought was the DW7000 modem wasn't compatible with the new assignment but RTC thought it was okay. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Your first thought was probably correct. It would be unusual these days for Hughes to have two transponders on one satellite that were DW usable. They have very, very few DWs in the system now, and are generally allocating only tiny amounts of bandwidth to support them.

Eventually DW users are all going to be squeezed out, as they cost the system too much.

91w/1070 is DVB-S2. Not good for a DW7000.

Sounds like they assigned you to a HN7000S plan. Not so much a transponder, but they have individual plan numbers for each satellite/frequency/gateway combination. The plan also determines if you have 0, 1 or 5 static IPs, bandwidth packages, etc.

I've seen HNS mistakenly do this before, and it's quite a headache (for the VAR) to get them to reverse it, but it can be done.

Looks like RTC is clueless about what satellites and transponders are compatible with the DW7000 [Roll Eyes] . Joe from RTC called me back and said they heard from Hughes that the DW7000 wouldn't work (as I was suspecting.) I told Joe I had a HN7000 so we can run with that. He said he would check on some things and get back with me. Then I got a phone call a couple of hours later from Rahm (another RTC tech) who told me they were "escalating this to Hughes..." All attempts to ask why this needed to be escalated was met with illogical responses.

I'm very frustrated at this point. Problem identified, solution close at hand, then the deep dark black hole appeared.

Did you try just sticking the HN7000 in and running registration installer? Unless they changed the assignment, this should work if you have your SAN and PIN.

Don - that occurred to me this morning as I was pondering the upcoming day. Maybe RTC/Hughes hasn't done anything and I can just stick it in there and get going

RTC moved me to 99 <groan> - this morning I asked Joe at RTC if he could move me back to 91/1070 and after an hour I got a call from Ram saying we were moved.

Installed the HN7000S and a few minutes later I got it commissioned and up and running. Stowed the dish and did a search - the D3 is happy once again. When the D3 is happy, I'm happy [Thumbs Up] .

Tried a couple of testmy speed tests (1.7 Mb of data) several minutes apart and I'm really impressed - both times I had download speeds of 2 Mbps! Last test was upload and that's great as well - with 1.5 Mb of data I uploaded at 285K!!

Whoo-hoo! [Whee!]

Watch your FAP number for the next week or so and tell us if you get the rollover.
