Last month it seem that the signal strength from I A 8 is down about 15 %. There are no dish issues as this is on a fixed dish that has performed flawlessly for years. Has anyone experienced similar issues on 89 W 1410? I'd love to know before I climb the roof with tools in pocket and start fiddling with the dish.
Thanks in advance.

Have you checked your modem to see if 1410 is still your assignment? If it changed, your SS would likely not be what you have previously experienced. Gary

It is still my assigned trasponder. The dish is on such an incredibly strong mount that I doubt that it needs to be re aimed.

Be sure to check the signal strength at different times of day as well as over the course of a few days. There might be some wobble in the orbit. The signal strength is down from what numbers to what numbers now?

For a very long time it used to be between 68-72 Now I get anywhere between 59-62. I see no difference in performance though. If all else fails and it cools of from 103 over the weekend, I'll climb the roof with meter in hand and see if I can improve on it any. The dish is mounted on a 12 x 4 that is 6 feet long with 2 braces. The signal strength readings have not changed any for many years.

I would suggest tweaking the antenna might help if it has not been addressed recently. Stuff does move over time (wood warps, houses settle, winds blow, etc.) and and adjustment might help. If you find that it is pointed as well as possible then you LNB may be getting weak.

Thanks Bill. I presume you have a history with reciever LNB's declining over time? That is easy to find ou as I have several newones, so I'll just swap one out if tweeking does not bring the signal back up. The cross pol is at 91 and all other parameters are a optimum as can possibly be. I used an old PICO peaker to tweek the dish originally. That unit is extreamly sensitive. I could just gently push one side of the allready fastened dish to cause the meter to go off scale.

With that last bit of information, I likely would not do anything assuming you have actually run the CP recently and gotten a 91. The signal strength is not critical and in this instance apparently not at all important. If you get weather you might lose the signal sooner than if you have a stronger signal but it's certainly possible that something has changed and that is now the appropriate number. Yes, we have seen both TX and LNB's lose strength over time.

Thanks, I am loving my new job and the folks we have been training seem quite happy with the information I am able to provide. Win, Win! We have revamped the training program and added some new info of our own so Winegard seems to be happy as well. Considering we are only 5 months into the job I think we have made a lot of progress.

That sounds very exciting as well as reesuring. Perhaps a welcome chnge from the uncertainty of marketing on the road?
