has been very busy, and things are now starting to come together quickly.
We think it is possible that the upcoming rally will be a sellout, so a decision had to be made on the number of attendees that can be accommodated. The number decided on is a maximum of 100 RV spaces at Buckhorn, and a maximum number of individual attendees of 225. The latter would include those staying off-site, including Motosat personnel.
The number who have put their names on the attendance list (Click Here) is already approaching 60, with the majority of those having made their reservations. If you plan to attend and are not on the list, please add yourself to the list and/or make your reservations as soon as you can. This will insure your place, and will greatly help us in planning for a capacity crowd.
John Christman has spent the past couple of days at Motosat working with them on some of the planning for their participation. We expect to have full attendance this year from President Jim Pendleton and VPs Royal Lamb and Ed Travis – no conflict with a major satellite show as there was last year. Edit: I'm told that Jim may have a conflict, so is not for sure. Motosat also expects to have a couple of technicians for the full length of the rally. Combined with the expertise of attending installers and other computer experts we should have plenty of help for those who need it in any part of their satellite connection issues.
Motosat will be supplying a number of items for nightly door prize drawings, which may be supplemented by other donated prizes. These will be “must be present to win” drawings, but based on prior experience the rules have been modified to say that installers out working on attendee’s systems are exempt from the “must be present” rule.
A grand prize from Motosat will be awarded on the final evening. That prize is one year of free Internet service (100 level). For this one drawing no one is exempt from the "must be present to win" (hey, all of the tech support HAS to be done by then, right?), so don’t plan on leaving early!
Motosat will again be bringing some of their products, TV and Internet, for display, with a silent auction available to pick one of them up at a bargain price. Some rules based on past experience: There will be a minimum bid. You may bid on multiple items, but if you are the high bidder on more than one you will be the winner of your highest bid, and other items will pass down to the next highest bidder.
The numbers have been crunched, and the rally fee has been set at $79 per person. The largest expense by far is for meals, which includes 2 breakfasts, 3 lunches, and 3 dinners. There is a modest amount for entertainment, and of course there are a number of incidental expenses. This is a significant increase from the $55 per person that was charged in 2005, but the actual cost per person in 2005 was just over $84, with the remainder made up by donations, particularly from Motosat, plus a meal paid for by Allen Beadel.
The goal now is to make the rally self-supporting. With a $79 fee, if the attendance were at last year’s level we would expect a small deficit, and if it reaches the 225 figure we would expect a VERY small surplus. We expect some subsidy from Motosat, so a deficit would be erased or a surplus enhanced. We do not want to have to assume a subsidy in the future. Any surplus will be retained in a rally account, to be applied to a rally next year. This is particularly important if we hold the rally elsewhere, as most places would have large deposit and guarantee requirements, for which we need a funding source.
The rally fee is separate from the cost of nightly parking at Buckhorn Resort. That cost is $24 per night, good for up to 3 days before and after the rally dates.
We have a rally registration form in PDF format available now at this link. This is a form you can fill in on your computer, and then print out for mailing or faxing. When Sheryl receives your form and payment she will change your status on the attendance page to Yes in the “Registered” column.
In the near future we expect to have the list of seminars and other sessions finalized, and a preliminary brochure will be put together at that time.
Feel free to comment about any and all of this. Your input is, and has been, very helpful as we work to make the rallies better and better each year.
All of us involved in the planning look forward to seeing old and new faces October 23-28, in Kerrville, Texas!

If anyone has already filled out the registration form on screen, you might want to check the first line of your address to make sure it actually printed. The first version of the form that was posted earlier in the day Saturday had a glitch that caused it to display but not print that one line. If your copy did not print the first line of the address just hand write the information into that line and mail or fax it in.
The form has been corrected now so it should print out exactly what you see on the screen after you have filled it in on your computer.
Please note that if you are paying by check or money order, the form and your payment should be mailed to Sheryl Prather at Buckhorn Lake. If you are using a credit card, you can also fax the completed form to Sheryl at the fax number on the form.
We do not want credit card information floating around the internet in an email, so mail or fax should be used to transmit the information to Sheryl.
If anyone finds any other anomalies in the form, please post them here so we can look at them.

Just as a reminder to the folks on the attendance list that still have not made a reservation at Buckhorn.....If you plan to stay here you still need to contact the park to insure a site if needed. As of today we only have 39 sites left for this rally. A big THANKS to all of you for the promptness in sending in registrations forms. See you in October. Sheryl prather
