Hell: I have a little problem, and was wondering if anyone had any clues. I have had a Directv system for a while now, But yesterday we had a little wind storm (Hurricane Charley) and now the system has a black screen with the message searching for signal please stand by. I made sure that the Dish was pointing in the right direction using the signal meter on the receiver setup menu, I am getting a 99 - 100 reading. But still the same message. I ran the the system test, no signal ,but I am getting a signal on the signal meter. I have to receivers hooked up to this dish, same thing on both screens, Is it possible that the LNB is Bad? I have tried resetting the receivers, I don't know what else could be wrong, If the signal meter is reading a signal, then what could the problem be?
Thank you

Yes On My RCA Receiver, there is a setup menu, which has a signal meter on it, you use it to get the best strength with a transponder, I have used that setup menu when I originally installed this system years ago, and recently when I switched to a mutil-sat dish. If the signal is getting from dish to the receiver for this setup menu, I just cannot under stand what the problem is?

OK, now I understand. Hopefully one of the dealers who is also a DirecTV dealer will chime in; seems to me your causes would be fairly limited under the circumstances you described. When you reset your receiver, did you completely unplug it and let it set for a couple of minutes? Have you tried taking the card out and reinserting to be sure it is making good connections? I recently had a similar problem to yours on my Hughes receiver and it cleared up after the reset (unplugging, etc.). What puzzles me is that you have the problem on both of your receivers.
Regarding the LNB, I would assume that since you're getting a good signal reading on your setup program that it is OK.
You might want to call DirecTV customer service and ask them to send you an activation signal if no other problems show up. I have also had to do that before; however, it would normally only be required after not using the receivers for several weeks. At least it might be worth a try.
Good luck.
