While the countdown timer was my idea last year (or was it the year before?) I am not sure that I can take looking at that thing for the next 4+ months. Can you make it smaller or make it go away for a time? Maybe it could be really small now and get bigger every month as we get closer?!?!?!

Looks good to me. Just might inspire more people to ask "What is that all about?" and decide to come, or perhaps help some people who are the edge to decide, "Hey, I really want to be there!".

I agree with Bill, make it smaller type and increase the size as the day gets closer.

We certainly hope to take the 2008 rally to the East Coast. It will, as always, depend on having the necessary dedicated group of volunteers who can put it together. My sense is that the current rally committee is not keenly interested in organizing an East Coast rally.

The ideal would be to have the 2008 committee in place, and in attendance, at the 2007 rally.

Can anyone suggest a great rally location on the East Coast? That's how Tucson got started.

The North Carolina State Fair grounds is a pretty impressive facility with about 200 hook ups (maybe more) and many more sites. Easy on off access to RT 40, minutes from downtown Raleigh, centrally located on the East coast and I think it's only about $15 a night for the hook up.

The best part is just about all the sites have a clear shot to the south and there are a lot of buildings to host seminars and tables for vendors.

I have a call in to check on leasing and feasibility. When I hear back I will post details

It will be interesting to see the turn out this year. We are anticipating as many as 200+ coaches which eliminates many locations.

This year, the committee looked exclusively at locations that had full hookups with 50 amp electric service, open views to the geosynchronous orbit, easy access for 45' rigs and facilities too serve meals and hold seminars for 300-350 people.

Attended (helped host) a rally in Raleigh at the fairgrounds last August. Nightly camping rate was very reasonable, but of the 120 (or so) sites we reserved, about 30 were close to the building we had to rent (at $4,000 a day), and the rest were over 1/2 mile away. There were a few 50 amp sites. Most were 30. They were all connected to one breaker, so first person connected got good power, but as more plugged in, it got worse and worse, until it was no longer acceptable. I would not recommend the NC State Fairgrounds for these reasons.
