My D1 controller will not give me a Magnetic compass reading when started up. It will give me elevation, Azimuth & skew setting after every move.

A few moves ago I did a compass calibration. When I did the calibration there was no compass reading in the Administrator.
That night it showed a compass reading and went right to the satellite with no problem.

In the three moves since then I have had no compass reading and it will not search or even attempt to raise. With the elevation, Azimuth & skew settings it gives me. I can manual raise dish to the settings and find signal then I can hit find satellite and it will then fine tune in.

Hitting the refresh button several times doesn't help. I have done the dish calibration a couple times, but that doesn't seem to help.

Loose wires, connection?

Most likely the compass has gone bad and you need a replacement UCB. In the meantime, you can simply manually enter your compass heading (the direction the front of the coach is pointing) in Configure Server and Override Compass Heading. Click OK back to the Find Satellite screen and click Find Satellite.

Thanks Bill. I will try that on my next move in 10 days.

In heading do you just put for N. 0, E 90, S. 180, etc for any direction in between?

That shouldn't be bad to do as I am only going to do 12 more moves in the next 4 months.

I probably have one of the old UCB's anyway. I have been holding off the upgrade to the D3 7000 until they start using the G4R. I just got the dish set up for DTV HD and don't want to change Internet satellites.

Yep, that's what goes in there. If you don't have a good bead on what your actual compass heading is you can also make the Azimuth Search Window larger if necessary.
