Last night, Aug-16, around 8:09PM local time in Cheyenne there was a service interruption on 121W. Customers on 105W Gilbert were not affected. The local oscillator on the LNB on the big dish broke. Since this happened during a storm, the operators on site did not recognize the problem immediately. After about 2 hours they recognized that the incoming signals had shifted in frequency, and then they switched to the backup LNB, and service was restored.

I am a little surprised that no one else posted about experiencing this outage. All I can say is that stuff happens, especially during lightning storms and our space segment provider is on top of it.

John
