We've been with Motosat for over 5 years, paying $99 a month...I noticed that there is a $79 plan and called Motosat about it. They said I wasn't eligible because of my dish or modem models. I believe we have an F1 and D6000. Did I get the straight scoop or was someone giving me incorrect info? Thanks, Doris

As I recall the $79 plan is for the 7000 and 7000S modems. It would not take you long to pay for a used 7000(S) modem at $20/month.

That is correct, the DW6000 is $99 per month. The 7000 series is $79.99 per month. Definitely time for you to upgrade! A new one from MotoSat is about $500 !! But, you can a good used 7000 or 7000s for much less.

Same bandwidth. The future will find less and less satellites/transponders that will work with a 6000 modem so you will see more users forced onto larger groups of users. The SM6 satellite is currently 7000S users only. If you are currently a MotoSAT customer, you would get your new modem, call MotoSAT and have them update your account to a 7000S account and then run a registration installer routine on the new modem to transfer your account from the old modem to the new. There is no guarantee that you will end up with better service, or even service equal to what you have now. Anytime you make a change with Hughes it's a crap shoot but, in general, things should go OK.

Motosat does not "support" the 7000S being used with a D2, if you need tech help through Motosat they will strongly urge you to upgrade to a D3. that having been said, i used a D2 with a 7000S for several months with no problems, and several people on here have the 7000S/D2 combination with no problems. Personally, i would not hesitate to make the switch solely on that basis.

Lots of folks are using the 7000/7000S with a D2 (and at least one person with a D1). It's not an issue, it's just MotoSAT trying to make a sale, nothing more. The D2 has not needed a software update in over 4 years. The D3 3.8.9 software has not required a software update in almost 3 years. How's your D3/D4 doing?
Doris, You would only change satellites if you want to. If you are on 89W and move from your current modem to a new modem you will stay on that satellite. There is no charge to make the changeover assuming that you already have the modem.
