Has anyone on 83/1290 been having slow speeds? Mine is going all over the place for the last couple of weeks. In the evenings can not browse the Internet on either Firefox or Internet Explorer but at times I can using AOL. Did a speed test this morning using Testmy.net and got 223 kbps down and 35 up. Tested with Hughesnet and got 155 down and 193 up. Is this slow down because of problems at Hughes, something on my end or just the season. My normal speed is 1.5 meg down and 160/190 up using Testmy.net. My signal strength is 83 and have 400MB of FAP remaining. I'm using my roof dish at the house. I changed out the entire receive and transmit arm with my spare and have the same issue. Sure could use some help. Thanks, Rich

While we are on the same satellite and transponder, any gateway on any transponder on any satellite can get over crowed. My upload speeds have remained consistent but the download seems to vary from over 1MB to about 500K depending upon the day and time as would be expected.

Bill, Thank you for your reply. I know we are on the same sat and transponder and was hoping you would reply. I just ran testmy.net again and got 1.5Mbps down and 31Kbps up. I don't know how to add the results like you do. The upload is what I typically have been getting no matter what the download is. I was going to swap out cables as a next step. Do you think that might help or am I stuck with these results until after the holidays? Again, thank you for your response. Rich

With excellent downloads and poor uploads I would suspect that you have a local hardware issue. Go to http://192.168.0.1/fs/advanced/advanced.html and click on Transmitter and then Ranging Stats.
This is what you want to see near the top of the page.

That's about it for hardware issues. I guess that while we are on the same satellite/transponder our gateways are differently loaded. The good news is that all of your equipment appears to be in great shape. The bad news is that if it does not clear up soon you will need to change satellites.

Found you here on this all while looking into my new download speed issue. Only getting 256 or so down on the new sat...
Longitude: 83 West Receive Frequency: 990 MHz Receive Symbol Rate: 30 Msps Receive Polarization: Vertical Transmit Polarization: Horizontal
I know not the same Freq as you, but my download speeds have been bad after we made the sat switch today. (And so far I do think I still have the up-link queuing issues.
Looking at what you posted above, my numbers in those area also look great. Yet downloads are really poor. In fact, in my last test my UPLOAD was faster than my download.
I may have to ask for another sat change or at least a Freq change.

Now it could be it got fixed or more people are off it. So tomorrow I am back to testing to see if it can stay higher. But man...that was a LARGE swing.

Now on 89W/1070/33/H/H so we will see what happens. I will now remove myself from this thread as it not longer pertains to sat 83 for me.
