I was poking around in the installer section of the HughesNet modem, and lo and behold I found a page that provides an up-to-the-minute FAP usage readout. Among other things, it shows the following:

FAP METER STATUS
-------------------------------------
FAP METER DISPLAY INFORMATION
-------------------------------------
User FAP Limit : 374784 KB
Unthrottle data in current window : 355963 KB
FAP count down timer : 0 Minutes
Last update received : 27s ago

I've seen applications available (Don Bradner has one, I believe) that will show FAP info, and even monitor it and tell you when you're getting close. Is this the information source for such applications?

I haven't published the URL to the above because perhaps it's not something that the powers that be want well-known (though another recent post has stated Motosat provided the URL to a customer). However, if it's okay I'll be happy to share it. Since it's a web page display, it would be equally easy to see on both Mac and PC.

Sure seems like an easy and straightforward way to check one's quota.

Yes, Don't new program reads the FAP info directly from the modem.

Yep, that info has been around for awhile.
Don wrote a program that will keep a live monitor on your desktop as well as give you the ability to kill your connection should you get too close to your limit.

I actually pull the information from the (very) public link that is right on the main modem web page. Look at the lower right on that page for "Download Allowance Status."

No need to go to the Advanced Menu. It's available from the standard 192.168.0.1 page. Click on System Status>Download Allowance Status or it can be accessed from this direct link.

No argument there, just showing the way to what the OP was showing.

Thanks guys.

It's all new to me in that I haven't been using the satellite system for a few years.

I like that FAP meter even better than the link I uncovered, Bill. Thanks again.

Glad to help but Don's the one to thank for the program itself.

I suppose I'll get around to installing Don's FAP monitoring software one day. Rest assured I'm VERY thankful to Don for the helpful software (especially at the price)!

Absolutely! I bought an F1 system, don't forget. [Smile]

I have been using only as much as about 10% to 20% of my quota on any given day. At the moment I'm simply enjoying the outdoors too much more than the Internet. This will pass as the crisp, clear Fall days pass on to Winter weather.

Okay, as a follow-up I thought I'd download said software.

All I can find is a program called hnFAPmon by someone other than Don Bradner.

I just put in 45 minutes searching for a Don Bradner FAP monitor program with no luck. Maybe I'm just being search-challenged tonight, but...

Where do I download this revolutionary software to which you refer, Bill?
