A utility for "hard" forced ranging of the DW6000/7x00 modems

by Don Bradner

This utility is designed to force a ranging (or re-ranging) of the modem when the "soft" Force Range link on the modem's advanced pages don't work.

Two examples of this are first when a TX15 error (queued for ranging) occurs and the other when a soft Force just produces a TX8 "ranging not needed" message.

This utility uses telnet, and simplifies it to one click. Place a shortcut to the utility on your desktop and whenever you want to force range just click it. The program runs and then exits. You can monitor the results on the System Status page in the modem.

You can download it here. The download is a simple install program to register the one necessary component. There is an uninstall included.

This is a Windows-only utility. A utility for the Mac that duplicates the functionality is not known to exist.
