A modem is a device that enables a computer to transmit data over a satellite connection, or over telephone or cable lines. The modem attaches data packets to a carrier wave and transmits it, then receives and decodes packets from returned signals.There are currently three modems used with Direcway Internet services, the DW6000, the HN7000, and the HN7000S.
