Has anyone driven into Yucatan Mexico with their RV and Motosat Unit?
Where there any problems with customs pertaining to the motosat or anyone requiring a license before enrty into the country?
I was going to plan a trip but was told some countries require a telecommunications license and heavy fee's before they allowed a sat system in county.
Thanks

Don't know about Yucatan specifically, but a number of RVers have gone into Mexico with their DataStorms and I have not heard of any problems. Additionally, as long as you are on SatMex5 (117) you should not have any problems connecting.

While I have not taken our coach to the Yucatan, we do spend the winter in San Felipe, Mexico on the Baja. Can't imagine any problem with the DataStorm in Mexico, especially one that a small "propina" could not fix. (Gratuity in Ingles!)

We winter every year in the Yucatan, although we don't have a motosat. There is no problem taking a permanent dish like motosat or a mobile one like Dustyfoots into Mexico. There is a possibility for problems entering Belize however.
This year when we crossed into Belize, we were told that all satellites (including the tv dish we have on top of our RV) had to be registered with the govt in Belize City and that there was a delay and a cost. However (!!) the customs official said that he would ignore the dish as it was too much trouble and the govt in Belize City didn't understand the hassles it caused the guys working at the border. There was no request for a bribe or even suggestion that one would be welcome and we just thanked him and went on.
We warned our friends who have a directway dish to stash it at the border and they had no problems. The customs guy also told us that pirate dish cards are common in Belize and the govt is trying to eliminate them. Who knows the real story.
So, my advice is if you are going into Belize just don't mention the dish. The only reason we got into this discussion is that he opened a cabinet and saw our receiver and card. In the future, I'll throw a towel over that.
Mexico is not a problem. There are people all over with mobile and fixed dishes and receivers. An RV has a much easier time bringing electronics into Mexico, particularly if they are attached to the RV.
