Hi there-

After a prolong hiatus from the MH and this great forum we are getting ready to hit the road again. Two questions:

1. I will be moving my modem out of the house and back on to the D3. Anything I should check out before I try to deploy the dish? It hasn't been deployed since early October.

2. I have installed MS Streets & Trips on an old laptop running Win2000. It appears the text-to-voice function only works with XP. Anybody know of any software/patches to get text-to-voice to work with Win2000?

Thanks very much.

Bob,
There should not be any issues with the move back to the RV. Just be sure you get the cables in the right place and the rest should work just as it has. I believe that you likely have 3.8.9 software and that's fine. If you are in a mood you "can" install 3.9.1 but it should not be necessary.

Thanks Bill.

I installed the modem back in the coach. On the first search the dish went all the way back on elevation until the motor usage cut it off. It never did skew or rotate. I got it to stow and started the seach again and it found the bird. I put it up and down 3 times and all worked well.

On the D3 admin program that Don wrote the "clear last known position" function keeps returning me an error syaing it couldn't clear and to try again. It was in a window with "Project1" as a title. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks much.

Oh -- one more thing. It looks like my firmware is -3.7.9 - yes 3.7.9. At least- that is what the browser tab says when I go to 192.168.1.250. Is that the only way to check the version number? Should I update?

Thanks

Bob,
You can click on the "about" link to see your version number as well, but the top of the browser is accurate as well.
Yes, you should update your software to 3.9.1. You can go to http://www.motosat.com/downloads/internet/ and download the software. Once you have it on your desktop and have the zip file extracted you can give me a call and we will walk through the installation. You MUST have a computer connected to the router with an Ethernet cable as the update cannot be done with a wireless connection.

With some excellent support from Bill 3.9.1 is loaded and working. Thanks much Bill you are the greatest.

Ron -- thanks for the link. I got it installed and now S&T allows me to turn the voice on.

Now if I just had the MH loaded and the house shut down [Smile]

Thanks again for the help

Well we have been on the road for about two months and the W2K text-to-speech component that Ron referenced and provided a link to in a post above was great......until last week. All at once when I tried to turn voice on in Streets&Trips I get an error message that basically says I need to install a speech engine. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled both S&T as well as the above referenced speech engine and still get the same error message. I fooled around a little with the speech section of the control panel but to no avail.

Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks

Bob Price
