Hi guys
I updated my -89W H sat table yesterday with a modified 5-21-2012 table from Don and everything worked fine. I move locations this morning and the controller found -89W H with no problem. My D2Admin says I have ConfigMatch. My D3 says that the receiver is connected, but my transmitter is giving me the message that it's adjusting the transmitter for timing for the last 2+ hours. All cabling has been checked to make sure there're plugged in and I have cycled the D3 and the modem as well as the wireless router.
What else should I check??

Bryon; I have been experiencing the same thing here in Colorado, clear line of sight, SQ jumps from 30-42 and when locked on it sporadically does the network timing adjustment. Making useing impossible.
Interested in what folks have to say.

Yes, I'm interested to know as well. Still waiting for someone to give us some hints of what's going on. Maybe -89W H is giving up the ghost??
Just don't know.

Have you done the force ranging routine? Did you check to see if the D3 properly updated the Lat/Long in the modem? Hopefully, you have a better SQ than David and it's not fluctuating like that.

If you are on the West coast then you may have to adjust the skew 3 degrees.

That is true almost everywhere in the US and can vary from 1-4 degrees to get the best ACP numbers but "in theory" should not effect timing.

Yeah, skew has no effect on timing. That is purely a function of the distance between the dish and the satellite.

The place to check Lat/Long in the modem is in the Install part of the advanced menu, under config params. It will be given in degrees and minutes. If that does not match your actual location then the D3 did not update it.

Yes, I did the Force Range several times. My SQ is about 45 and doesn't vary but by +- 1 SQ.

Don-Oregon I have not adjusted the skew, but the D3 matches the skew that the sat info gives.

Don Bradner. I'll have to check the Lat/Long in the modem in the advanced menu, under config parameters. I know the D3 gives me the lat/lon of my position, but I didn't know it had to match the Lat/Long in the modem. I'll check this out.
Thanks guys. I'll let ya'll know if anything changes.

Forgot to mention that I am heading for North Western Washington, but am now located in Montana. Will drive through Idaho tomorrow.
Probably be around Blaine, WA by Friday (right on Canadian border) for a couple of weeks.
We are not crossing into Canada this venture :-)

The numbers on the D3 screen have nothing to do with the correct settings. The settings are calculations and they are incorrect for 89W. They have been for many years.

Just to be clear what I'm talking about: The modem Lat/Long has to match where you are

If it is off by over 50 or so miles, the modem will not/cannot range.

The D3 is supposed to tell the modem where it is, but failures are not uncommon.

So, what you are looking for in the modem is a Lat/Long that matches your actual location. For example on 6/21 you were in West Yellowstone at 44.65486N 111.10810W

That would show in the modem as 44 deg 39 min North and 111 deg 6 min W

If you've moved and it still shows that you would know that it was wrong.

Update on mine. I am online..at least for awhile! SQ still 42-43 SS 497, still locked on with occasional not locked to network timing.
If long/Lat are off how do we correct it?

Since the D3 will usually push the Lat/Long to the modem, the normal answer is to make sure that the controller has GPS and the location is correct, then hit search again.

The other choice is to use what tripod users do, and use my DSSatTool to push the Lat/Long to the modem manually.

Thanks Don. Offline right now and usually does go off just after daybreak. Still doing the timing thing. But early this am (2) was working fine.
Bad lnb or transmitter?

You could put a bag of ice on the LNB when it stops working and see if after it cools it off you have service. If so then take the bag off and wait to see if it heats up again and goes off line. If that happens you have a bad LNB. Have tested many LNBs this way and find by the time I get around to this I have exhausted everything else.
