I have a KVH trackvision dome on the coach with a Hughes GCEBOA receiver. Recently the receiver quit operating and displays a Jan 5, 2006 date and no guide with available chanels. After numerous calls to the "support" folks in Bangladesh etc. they think the receiver is bad. We attempted all of the reset operations but it will not reset to current date. They sent me a new reeiver yesterday DirecTV model D11 and I installed it in the coach. It does not have a RF remote plug as did the original receiver. We called support to activate the new receiver with no success. THe 3 types of dishes in set up do not include the KVH dome. The set up failed to find the sat, and the KVH continues to spin forever. Could this be the lack of a RF Remote connection? Any other ideas? Gracias

Dick, I am not a Sat TV antenna expert but since no one else has jumped in I will tell you that I am sure it does NOT have anything to do with the lack of RF Remote connection. That connection is for the small antenna that works with your satellite receiver remote control. If you have the RF remote you should be able to operate your satellite receiver from anywhere in your house/coach without the remote having IR line of sight to the front of your receiver. It does not have anything to do with the actual operation of the receiver or the KVH.
I do not know which KVH you have. Some of the later models have two switches. An On/Off switch and a SAT Select switch. On mine, the KVH will search and find a satellite and stop and a green LED will come on at the Sat Select switch. If it is not the correct satellite, i.e. DIRECTV, and I do not get a picture I can press the SAT Select switch and it will search for the next satellite. In other words, if you have a KVH with the SAT Select switch it SHOULD find a satellite and stop searching even if the receiver is bad.
To me it sounds like you either have a problem with the KVH or you have a problem with the coax cable from the receiver to the KVH. Do you use the Low Speed Data Port connection from the KVH to your receiver (looks like a modular telephone plug)? If so do you see a message on your TV from the KVH saying "Search Mode 1" or any other Search Mode.
By the way, on the three types of dishes in the setup, for the KVH you would select the Round 18" dish. Not sure how they word that in the setup but the KVH is equivalent to the old basic round dish.
It just seems odd that you would have a receiver go bad and then get a "new" bad receiver. I think the problem is elsewhere. Check your cables, check and make sure your TV is on the correct channel as the output of the receiver (3 or 4). Borrow or run a cable to a neighbor's DIRECTV dish and verify the receiver(s) get a signal. If they do, then you will know it is your cable or your KVH.

1: Receiver lost it's mind or 2: Antenna (LNB) lost it's mind
See if you can visit a sales/service center for either Dish or Direc (whichever you use) and have them Bird-Dog your antenna. The antenna auto-dish should lock onto the sat with a Bird Dog, if they can't do that then try an alternate receiver

If your old receiver would still make your KVC lock on a signal. You could hook it back up and when it locks on the 101 satellite, turn the power off to the KVC and then the receiver.
Hook the new receiver up and in antenna setup, set it for round dish or single LNB. And you should then be receiving a signal. DTV can not activate the new receiver until it is getting a signal.

Thanks to everyone for the input. I am going with
1: Receiver lost it's mind or 2: Antenna (LNB) lost it's mind or 3: Operator lost it's mind
Took the coach to Beaudry for other service and put it on the list. They did the original installation.
gracias
