Why were you wanting to tell them that you were using the box in the RV?

That is the response they are supposed to give if it appears that you would be using the account in both RV and home. There is no reason to tell them that. If you want DNS, you don't do that via phone, you do it via the mailed-in waiver, and in either case you just move the receiver back and forth.

You need to understand that the folks you are talking to are just reading a script and they do whatever the computer says. If you mention RV it takes them to a whole set of rules that we really don't have to get involved with.
What DTV is referring to is that if you have one receiver in your home getting LOCAL network programming and you want ANOTHER receiver in your RV receiving DNS networks, then you are required to pay for each account separately (no $5 mirror charge allowed).
However, if you have multiple receivers in your RV you can have identical services mirrored to the second receiver. You can also have one receiver in the RV and one in the house, but you must discontinue service on one and activate the other to prevent being charged full price for both. This is one of the things that DTV has done to ensure that they do not get into the kind of trouble the Dish Network is in.

However if your initial primary DTV account is setup for the RV then you can add a second receiver for your house for an additional $4.99. The home receiver will get your spot beamed locals but not the DNS.... while your primary RV receiver will get the DNS but not the locals.

However... just because it worked this way for me is no guarantee that it will work for you. My primary account is for the RV with the receiver listed as RV Living room. The home receiver is listed on the account as Home Living Room... and I turn this one on and off as needed to save the $5 per month extra charge.

Just figured I'd throw this in to muddy the waters. The only given is that there doesn't seem to be any cast-in-stone rules that can't be overcome by calling into another customer service person.

There are some accounts that were setup prior to DTV's new policy that you could not have both accounts active at the same time. There are still some rep.'s who don't setup the account the way that DTV requires. It is DTV's policy that you are not allowed to have any 2 receivers activated on the same account with one receiving locals and one receiving DNS even if one is listed as being in an RV.
Dish Network did allow this to happen and it may be one of the reasons that the DNS service to Dish customers is about to end.
