Have a Nomad 2 and an HD dish. Today have tried several times to get it to work. It does deploy but then it just spins around, stows and then re-deploys spins around....and on and on. Have to stow it and turn it off or it just keeps going through the loop.
Have updated the software to the 40.8. Have tried changing the zone we are in since we are much further north than usual. Nothing is working.
We are in Bismarck, ND. Any suggestions or does anyone know of a service person in the area?
Thanks, Dulce

DirecTV or Dish service? The Dish service may not be available in ND. I would also try doing a dish calibration routine and not setting any zone to see if that helps.

Bill it's Directv. How do I do a dish calibration routine and not set any zone? I know how to get it into program mode but what do I do after that so that it isn't in any zone?
Thanks for your quick response above also. Know you are no longer doing Motosat stuff but appreciate your help.

You don't go into program mode, you just power on the Nomad and then push and hold the Find and Stow buttons together for about 7 seconds. Release and it will do a calibration. I don't remember how you get rid of the zone option but it should be in your manual. Royal said never use the zone option and tech support said always use the zone option. I always listened to Royal.

I agree with you and Royal. We had no problems with this for several years, traveling through many of the 'zones' and never changed a thing. Then we had a bad sensor replaced in Arizona. The guy who replaced it said we needed to use the zones. Figured he knew better so have used them but it doesn't make sense when we never needed them before. I'll go through the manual and also try do to do the calibration method you suggested to see if I have any luck.
Thanks again Bill

Are you saying that when you just turn on the power it goes up without you touching anything? That would be bad! You should be able to turn the unit off (wait a bit) and turn it on again without anything happening. After the units lights stabilize you should be able to push and hold the Find and Stow buttons simultateously for 7 seconds. When you release these buttons it should do the calibration (raise all the way up, skew left and right, rotate 360+, rotate back and then stow).

Correct I am saying that if I turn the power on it deploys before I can hit any buttons as soon as it goes through it's various lights. I turn it on and before I can do anything it goes up. I tried again and as soon as I turned it on I hit find & stow. Does the same thing either way. Itgoes up does a circle and then stows, then in about 2-3 seconds it goes back up again. It never even searchs. The only way I can stop it is to have Bernd watching to see when it is down and I listen for it to touch the roof and I hit the power button so it turns off.
Doesn't sound good does it.

The front panel buttons on the motosat controllers suck. It's possible the search button is stuck and that's why it's going up immediately. Turn it off and press the buttons several times. Both ends and the middle. Try to see if it's sticking in on one end.

Sounds right to me as well. Push and release (on the edges) the Find and Stow buttons several times to see if you can free them up. If you can you should be able to get on track again. If you cannot you are going to need to contact MotoSAT about repairs.

Could the dish controller be in the 'show' mode ? His description of the movements sounds like it.

Turn on Nomad 2 while you are holding down the STOW and FIND buttons. Let the buttons up and note which lights are ON.
IF it is the FIND and STOW then you are set for DTV HD.
IF it is the DVB/FIND/STOW or DVB/PEAK then it is set in the 'show' mode which is used for demonstrating the actions of the dish.
