I received and e-mail the other day asking me if I wanted to send in $67.00 for free TV with all channels off a sattelite.. I just sent them and e-mail telling them I am a dish user with Direcway/Hughes, I am a 34 years ham radio operator, I have been on the internet for 11 years, and never heard of their product, and then asked for a Demo of their software.

Has anyone heard of this or signed up for it?

There are several sites that have a similar intro screen, advertise on Google and all want a name and email address to let you view their site. I personally wouldn't do it. There is a link on Ebay Forums about it with most indicating they feel they got ripped off.

I Never download ,open or read Spam mail. And never go to a web site they recommend.

Mailwasher deletes all of them before they can be downloaded.

The reason we have spam is that it pays for the spammer. So if we all NEVER buy from a spammer they would eventually go away.

Well everyone, thanks for all the replies,, sorry I did not receive this via spam mail, and I am a long time user of Mail washer Pro myself and love it, and being I own my own server on the net (how else can one finance being a full timer with toys???) I have a 1st line of defence there, but,,, BUT I had never heard of this one, and thought someone just might have heard of this SPECIFIC, TV on computer thing, was not asking about spam blocking...

Sage advice Paul.

But was it P T Barnum that said there is a sucker born every minute? Thats a BIG IF. I got the same email yesterday as well. Sounds good but you know there has to be something wrong or it would be selling like hotcakes at the Big Box Stores.

Since two folks here received the same offer via email, they can let us know if it fits this definition of spam:

For what it's worth, I did see an ad for that same site/software located along the "ads by google" bar on the testmy.net site, but didn't click on it.

For what it's worth, I dump ALL unknown email so fast that I never even read the headers. Best way to get a 'virus' is to actually open one of those unsolicited messages, or forwarded messages.

Sorry, I haven't seen the satellite tv offer. It may have passed this way, but it did not stay long.

Well thanks everyone, I had no idea how my friend got a hold of it but he sent me the URL and asked my advice,, (bad mistake) and I went to the URL and did not see anything I liked, sent the site a query asking for a demo, I don't think I will ever hear from them,,, but who knows.

I agree with someone here, all they did on the 3 domains they have dedicated to the software, is tell you the same thing with changed wording, and saying nothing. I think they are just trying to get a buck...

Now for you all that do not run Mailwasher Pro, my mail never get's to my POP3 account on my system that I am using right now, I can read any e-mail while it is on the server on the internet, no worry about virus' etc.. if it is something I don't care for just tell the software to remember the e-mail and then click on LEARN,BOUNCE and DELETE, and poof never botherd by them again, best $50.00 I've spent in a long time..

Thank you everyone.

EchoMike19...Mike,

I once was set up next to a gentleman that carried an entire cabinet shop in a trailer. He was a full timer and when they moved from site to site, it required 2 days. First day they moved the 5th wheel, the second day, they went back and picked up the cabinet shop...Fully equipped with table saw, Radial Arm saw, band saw, lathes, tools, tools, tools.

Thanks for the tip on Mailwasher Pro. I'll look into it.

There is a TV player that I have used which is free and has maybe 15 channels available. It works fair and I use it occasionally to watch whatever football game I'm not watching on TV at the same time.
Do a Google search on TVU Networks and download the player......it's free and I've not received any ill effects in the three months I've had it.

Odds are I dumped it too.

There are no secret sats, The FCC here in the us controls all television broadcast sat or not and it publishes the list of sats and what's on them

www.lyngsat.com (This is a home page I don't know the full path) has said list including frequencies, transponders and positions

It is possible to receive all of Dish Networks channels by using a fta receiver. The receiver must be loaded with software modifications that provide the means to un-scramble the signal.
