I used to have a DW7000, and was on 117-1070. While there, hpFAPAlert worked very well.
Recently, I upgraded to a hn7000S. Hughes wanted to change the transponder to a H transmitter configuration. That presented a problem for me, as my Trans would not make the change.
My VAR is Mobile Satellite Technology. I worked with them on the problem, and we confirmed (via several tests) that indeed, the problem was on my end. I worked just fine on 117-1070 VH, but could not change to a H transmitter.
I ended up with two choices. Either replace the transmitter waveguide (which would be the entire assembly) or move to a private gateway, operated by Mobil Satellite Tech, which happened to be on 117-1070 (thus VH). We choose the later.
All has been working well. But today, I have discovered a problem. I normally don't worry to much about FAP, but got curious with the new increase in FAP, and decided to check.
hpFAPAlert cannot get the data from the modem (it shows "0"). I looked at the Huhges information pages (192.168.0.1), and cannot find the information there either. ?????
All the pages were searched, and I am pretty sure it is NOT there (used to be...... on the DW7000). The only thing I can find is... FAP Policy Threshold Exceeded... (Yes/No). The software version on the 7000s is 5.6.1.19 (12-3-2009).
Can someone verify for me the location in the Hughes pages where the FAP status is displayed? Also, what version of software is on your modem.
Thanks.

Sounds like your software needs to be updated. Software version 5.8.0.82. The last item under Diagnostic Utilities, at the bottom of the left column on the Home/Main page is Download Allowance Status. Click on that.

Thank you. And "that" (updating the modem software) is not something we users can do at will. That function is controlled by the host.
I think the answer will be within the statement.. " or move to a private gateway, operated by Mobil Satellite Tech, which happened to be on 117-1070 (thus VH). "
I will find out in a day or so, and update the thread.

You can control a firmware update in that if you run a new registration installer, if new software is needed it will automatically do this update after completion. You most certainly have the wrong software version in the modem and Apr 27 2010 Software Release: 5.8.0.82 is current for an HN7000S modem.

On another issue, the "waveguide" answer is spurious for a .74 meter dish. Your transmitter is already H, and it doesn't need to be changed to V.
The problem is the LNB, which is a dual receiver. Yours apparently is dead on the H side.
