The last few days I have been having problems getting online. I'm constantly getting Server Not Found errors. I've searched the internet for others with the problem and found some posted over the last few months on the Hughes and DSLreports forums but there is no cause or solution given for the problem.

Motosat started a ticket with Hughes yesterday. It seems the problem is no or improper translation of an IP number for an http URL address; I.E a DNS error in the server.

I have a bookmarked site that uses an IP number for its address and that never fails. I, Motosat and my Cisco and other certifications computer geek stepson (that has 20 years in IT) says it is on the Hughes end.

My question is... is there any possibly it could be a problem on my end, in the HN7000s modem?

Gary

Give us links to some of the sites that won't open and a few of us will try the sites on our Hughes system. Hughes does have DNS issues from time to time. Some have been resolved and some still don't work.

Thanks Bill. I have hundreds of Bookmarked sites it Firefox and none work. I booted up awhile ago and my homepage came up. I went to
www.theblaze.com and the page updates every few minutes and the first time it updated I got the error. I restarted the modem and got on. My wife got to her blog and after a few minutes got the error.

And so it has been since Sat or so sbout 90% of the time we try to use the internet. Pages load slow about half the time we can get online and we never get a Timed Out error anymore.

And now trying to post this I get this; TCP Acceleration Error (800.3) - Acceleration Backbones In SYN_SENT State

The HUGHES terminal is experiencing a problem with it's TCP acceleration infrastructure. Retrying the web page may correct the problem.

I just fired up Blaze and it is all working just fine from here. I am on 83W so we could well have completely different servers and the like but I am using an HN7000S modem. Even watched a video about the 99% wanting to burn down NY.
Nice.

FWIW... my first click on 'The Blaze' resulted in a DNS error but a reload resolved the problem. Subsequent try's went through without a hitch.

I've been having lots of trouble with the DNS servers the past couple of days... generally it eventually clears up after a few days and all is well until Hughes does some kind of change. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it... thankfully it doesn't last very long so I've learned to just live with it.

Good luck.

I'm on 99W and I've been having the same issues for a couple of days, it seems better today however.

I was going to ask the question on the forum as well.

The problem is still ongoing but I heard from Hughes through Motosat. They think one or both of our computers has a virus. Or... we have too many file sharing programs running. Or "your HN7000S has detected a possible DNS Acceleration[N] issue". And if so then there probably is a gateway problem and I'd have to change satellites to see if that solves the problem.

We only have a browser and an email program running on two computers.

IE has a diagnostic and it shows:
HTTP, HTTPS, FTP connectivity
warn HTTP: Error 12007 connecting to www.microsoft.com: The server name or
address could not be resolved
warn HTTPS: Error 12007 connecting to www.microsoft.com: The server name or
address could not be resolved
warn FTP (Passive): Error 12007 connecting to ftp.microsoft.com: The server name or
address could not be resolved
warn HTTPS: Error 12007 connecting to www.passport.net: The server name or
address could not be resolved
warn FTP (Active): Error 12007 connecting to ftp.microsoft.com: The server name or
address could not be resolved
warn HTTP: Error 12007 connecting to www.hotmail.com: The server name or
address could not be resolved
error Could not make an HTTP connection.
error Could not make an HTTPS connection.
error Could not make an FTP connection.

I say they have a programming problem of some of their servers; I think someone is doing it wrong and everyone thinks everyone is doing it right.

We both just ran Malwarebytes and Microsoft Securities Essentials runs every day and neither found anything on either computer.

Liveneasy, do you get the server not found error message? If so could I get you to call Chad at Motosat and 'complain'? They could add you to the ticket.

Do you have any proxies set at the network or browser level? Do you have any manual DNS settings?

At various times both have been recommended as fixes for problems, but both are quite out of favor with the current Hughes technology. Those who've had Hughes for a long time may have old settings hanging around that can cause issues.

In IE, check Tools/Internet Options/Connections/LAN Settings. The selected options that should be tried are to have nothing selected, or possibly "Automatically detect settings" - the latter is the default.

I do get the server not found error's but I can't help you out... I'm a direct Hughes customer, not a Motosat customer.

Yesterday morning we continued to have the problem and I shut everything off about 10AM. At 5PM turned it on and no more problems, all the way until I shut down after midnight. No problems today either since about 7AM.

So it looks like Hughes found something and fixed it.

Don, no proxies and it's set to automatically detect settings. We've had the dish 5 yrs the 13th of this month and other than me frying a modem once, and a few times having a limb etc. in the way and believing that wasn't the problem..., and the skew losing its way last spring until I calibrated the dish, it has been mostly problem free.

It seems much faster now and hopefully no more problems.
